Thank you all very much! Yes, there was indeed a strange tension in the position of the man. This was what caught my attention... I was always attracted by that station because of the nice perspective and light effects it provides, but I always lacked a central subject to anchor the image.

    Graceland, Graceland.......

Paul, I very much like this one: the disorienting multiple reflections, and the way the undulated pattern on the woman's dress contrasts with the sharp geometry of the lines in the glasses, the sense of motion towards the vanishing point... well done! L

    What are you looking at?

Old image that fell through the cracks... I am always attracted by the interaction between people and images. Perhaps because it is easy and I'm lazy :-). Thank you for comments and critiques!

    Stairway

I think this is a very nice find and a very attractive graphical effect, of the kind that is intriguing because it marries the abtract graphism with the reality. However, I feel it is somewhat limited by insufficient contrast. Since from your portfolio you don't appear stranger to strong contrast images, I assume this was intentional, but in my opinion, it is a bit too much (well, too little ;-). I would try to steepen a bit the tone curve in the midtones. Cheers!

    Street portrait of a woman.

An interesting point of view... I like the unusual choice of anonymize her, and leave only the game of patterns on the dress, almost contrasting in its abstract sharpness with the very human legs and arms coming out of it. Good use of DOF to detach the background leaving it readable to provide context. Cheers!

    Sweet Dreams

Hi all, thanks a lot for the comments... I will try a closer crop, although I am fraid that the context would be lost somewhat. In fact, I remember struggling with finding a good direction to shot from, so that both the overall position of the man, and the image on the paper were clear.

    6 + 1

An image of graphical simplicity, very well done. I like how you avoided completely removing the details in the dark part of the grass.   Cheers   L

    Finding the way OUT

Hi, nice shot. As other have observed, surreal, or dream like... but (it seems to me) more in the sense of a nightmare: can you move your feets? Or are you unable to move, slowed as if your legs were sinking in the ground, even if you see the way out, even if you feel whatever is after you coming nearer? Nice use of distortion, and of well distinct light-dark areas! Cheers L

    Liberty Hotel

When I pass by Buenos Aires I often end up shooting this sign (in the very central Avenida Corrientes) at night. Its bloody color against the regular pattern of the building is naturally attractive for me. This is the first time I'm rather happy with the result. What do you think? Thanks!

What draws me to this photo is the sense of unbalance, the slight tilt of the horizon and the more pronounced shift to the side in the position of the person. There is a sense of a fleeting moment, as if this was a single frame from a scene of a movie, an unknown story before and after this. Now, this is of course true of any photo: there is always a moment before and one after. But very often one tries to choose a moment that resumes a story in an instant, so that the photo "tells the story". What I feel here is that you are instead suggesting that there is a story, a flow of events. But you are not telling what it is, as if it were two big question marks above and below this single movie frame. This is very intriguing and attractive. Also nice are the details of the person, that is completely obscure and unrecognizable (is he coming towards the camera, or going away? more question marks...) and at the same time perfectly contained between the road and the line of the mountain. One suggestion: I would clone away the small black thing appearing from the right border against the sky, I find it distracting. Cheers! L

    Daddy!

... too many strange things to look at at the flea market! I had to run after them to get this one, hence the motion blur. But some coincidence made her head to move too so that she was practically still with respect to me, and I like the motion of the rest since it seems to me it conveys the excitement of the little girl. Thank you for comments and critiques!

    We pass through bright light

An Image I'm not sure about. On the one side, I very much like the concept, although it is, I guess, not very original. But there are a few things that disturb me, the shadows that make the rightmost person poorly visible, the railing on the top-left... I considered cropping away the latter, but I decided against it because I feel the photo becomes too closed around the figures and the shadows. What do you think? Thanks!

    Evil Eye

More from Valparaiso, which is, among other things, a city of cats (and of dogs) as much as it is a city of men. And this dweller did not hide what he thought about me disturbing him with my reflex and large lens... thank you for comments and critiques!
