  1. Thanks to all of you for the nice comments and Richard, for the advice...I'll play around with this one a bit. I liked it because I'm his dad, of course, but I just didn't know about its merits as a photograph apart from that. Might have to consider a print of this one...thanks again!
  2. I can't add much more to what others have said - awesome!

But why on earth did somebody give this a 3/3? WTF?! I saw a post somebody made in one of the forums about totally unreasonable 3/3 ratings eventually leading to the ruination of this site's excellent critique feature. Starting to wonder about that myself...especially when you see a great photo like this getting dissed.

I'd possibly look at your composition, you've got a lot of space to the right that's not adding much to the image. Can you crop in a little closer to bring up the subject of the photo, which is the bee? Also, I might consider shooting this at at least f9 and maybe a faster shutter speed, to get the bee sharper. Finally, if you've got some good processing software such as photoshop or lightroom, you can recover some of the overexposed areas of the sunflower (not all - that one petal is totally blown out).

    Hanging on!

Pretty good detail on both the fungus and the tree, and the background is good. I might crop it a little tighter to lose a little off the bottom, is all. MHO.
