Davide, it's probable that JPG compression and/or a poor resizing algorithm is doing the banding, especially if you're not seeing it other places or in your original. It's a beautiful image, but the banding does catch my attention.
  1. Daniel, it's probably lichen covering the rock that gives it that color. A lot of backcountry granite in the area has that yellow-green lichen on it. The reef of rock on the north side of Mt Lemmon is another example.

This is much more natural looking, though I didn't mean anything bad with your previous example. There's nothing wrong with pumping up color, by any means, I certainly do it. You simply need to find your style and taste for it. This is a beautiful image and I'm looking forward to seeing your processing skills grow.

Beautiful image. I love the mystery. My complaint is the central placement of the child, I think more to the right would have made a more dynamic image. Processing is beautifully done.

Very interesting. It looks as though the color tones could be banding or stepped, which may mean you pushed the processing a bit much.

Sorry, the exposure is not perfect. I love the composition, but the water is totally blown out. I'd suggest metering so that the histogram doesn't hit the right edge.
