laurentbaig 0 Posted March 11, 2008 Nice. Beautiful light. Compositionally, I wish you had the camera pointed just a little more to the left, but I wasn't there so can't know your reasons. Still a beautiful image of the dome. Link to comment
dchiaradmd 0 Posted March 11, 2008 Thank you so much for your suggestion. To be honest, my main reason for composing it this way is that I'm a novice and still trying to figure this out. That is why I SINCERELY appreciate your suggestion. I will incorporate it into future shots. If anyone has suggestions for a book or website that discusses composition of landscapes, I'd appreciate it if you'd let me know. Thanks. Link to comment
lonebearimages 0 Posted March 11, 2008 Re landscape compositions and books. Look at the books by Charlie Waite and John Shaw. Frankly, some of the best use of your time is to look at the work of some of the great landscape photographers here on PN. Look at the work of Mark Geistweite, Zack Schnepf, Marc Adamus, Laurent Baig, Leo Burkey, Piotr Czechowski, Sean Depuydt, Walter Tatulinski, Daniel Ewert, Stephen Penland, Jane Goodall, Kah Kit Yoong, and Teresa Zafon, just to name a few. Each have a distinctive style; but each have superb compositional skills that are worth careful study. Figure out what you like, and don't like; and then try and apply some of these observations in your own work. Most of all, Daniel; just have fun with the landscape and your camera! Cheers!
