Option 2.
Back in my film shooting (Oly OM1) days it would have been a modified Option 1, using the thumb to press the shutter release without having to go through the contortions one does with the grips on modern cameras.

Reminds me of a party I was part of in Crete in 1968. On the beach, beer (Fix) provided for us by the Greek Navy.

Flashback has also been one of my favorites along with Boiling Point.

Read the Bang Bang Club a few years back, great book. The last I knew Silva is still actively shooting in the Iraq, Afghanistan wars. Prior to the war he snuck into Afghanistan and documented life under the Taliban. He ended up on their wanted list.
Later, during the war, he came under some flack from certain quarters because of a photo he took of an insurgent sniper aiming out of a window at American troops. Obviously he had to be in the room to take the photo. I think it was published by "The New York Times".

The first time I did it a few years ago it was a bit scary but I was determined to do it myself. Only one local camera shop and they are expensive on most everything so I didn't even bother checking on how much they charge.
Nothing to it really. Like John said, you can do it. Google it and check the prices on various kits. Some are way more expensive then others.

Like Eric said, the equipment used shouldn't be of concern to a gallery, it's the final print they are displaying.

In my misspent youth I drank Stroh's. A friend of mine drank PBR. He was transfered to Detroit and I to Milwaukee area. We got together one time and he suggested that if I saw the Detroit River I would never drink Stroh's. I laughed and told him if he ever saw the Milwaukee River he wouldn't drink PBR.

To put some of what Matt said in perspective, there were approximately 20,000 French men, women, and children killed by Allied forces during the invasion of Normandy. I wonder if I search Youtube will I find videos of it and see it labeled collateral murder?

Wonder what my wife would say if I woke up mornings and played "find the hook worm"?

Domke also, love them after trying several others over the years. Second favorite are the stock Canon straps. I find the Domke secure, comfortable, and doesn't get hot in the sun.

I agree with what Leo said. Most of the time when I press the shutter button (there are some exceptions) I know what I want the finished image to look like. I do a lot of converting to B & W and at times I will experiment but I have no interest in seeing how many ways I can change an image.

To learn and sometimes play exploring different options is fun but it's not something I do very often.

My workflow seems to be the same as Frederick's. I shoot in RAW and for most files do the initial processing in DPP, then transfer it to CS2 where I will do my cropping, resizing, sharpening. Probably 90% of what I shoot gets converted to B&W and I use CS2 for that. Normally I set sharpening and noise reduction to 0 in DPP. If I need noise reduction I use the Noise Ninja plug-in.
Just for the heck of it after reading your post I used just DPP. The sharpening results were fine but I didn't try different sizes of prints which I imagine could be a factor also.
Are you using the latest version? DPP is now at Version 3.8.0.0 so you may want to download the newest version if you don't have it and see if that makes a difference.
