I have the older version of the 190 without the guick flip center column, and agree its a good compromise between portability and stability, would like to upgrade to the guick flip column it seems to me this would be useful but will have to wait until I break or lose the one I have

without getting into the why shoot photos at all thing, I mainly shoot nature because thats where I spend a lot of time, thats where I'm comfortable, and thats what interests me. so when I got into photography, naturally, I shot nature.

Think Joe Walsh, analog man, on a side note when I first heard that song I thought that'll get mentioned in the P-net forums classic cameras or film and processing, but it didn't, or I just missed it. Curious as to why the concern for trade secrets if film is almost dead, hope it lasts another 20yrs then I'll be to old to care.

Have had issues with interior fogging in cold wet weather with the tamron, other than that no complaints.

I have a c330 and a 65mm lens, never really looked for the correct filters just used the ones I have with step down rings.

Nothing really stands out in my photos either, what did stand out to me was that my photos are pretty much all the same, will have to make an effort to shoot a little differently, then again cricks, flowers, and trees are kinda my thing. My offering is one of my typical crick photos (yes crick not creek, if you don't know the difference check out some Pat McManus stories)

My DA 50-135 has always been a little hinky, sent it back while still under warranty and told it was fine that it must be the camera and to send the camera in, also under warranty, which I did and same result. Have just learned to live with it. The other day had it with me on a x-country ski, in the 20's cold but nothing unreasonable, had been out for a couple hours and went to use it, no auto focus, OK I'm used to this so go to manual focus but the f-setting won't change and of course no aperture ring ( a big thumbs down to whoever decided we don't need aperture rings anymore) and the shutter won't fire, tried a few things, flipped switches, took it off and put it on again same thing. Camera worked fine with 16-45 and 90 macro but refused to function with 50-135. Once home allowed camera and lens to warm up, worked fine. Assuming this is just another chapter in sdm issues with this lens, or has anyone else had cold problems with this lens or camera combo. (K5)

I've used disposable handwarmers rubberbanded to the lens barrel to keep dew and frost off the lens for star trails, maybe a couple more around the body and wrapped with something would keep the mirror from freezing open. Doesn't the RB have leaf shutters in the lens? if so the handwarmers might be a temporary fix until cla'ed. I have a 65 for a 330 that gives me trouble in cold weather, it can be annoying.

not exactly all flowers and plants, John Shaw's close-ups in nature does cover a lot of flower and plant subjects

away at work so nothing new, but all this talk of beer made me want to jump in, have been adding creature comforts to my homemade sailing dinghy to make it a better fishing/beer drinking/farting around boat, and since a wooden boat can't have plastic beer holders came up with my own made out of basket weaving strips, scrap wood and epoxy.(followed by several beers worth of sanding)

Don't forget about the parrallax issue, doesn't become a factor until you get close, have never shot a yashica so don't know what the min. focus distance is, but if it does focus close when doing so compose with a little extra space at the top of the frame so you don't cut off heads and such. I use a polarizer some on my mamiya tlr and used to screw the polarizer into the viewing lens to set it , but actually forgot to put it on the taking lens to shoot so now I just hold it to my eye to set it then put it on the taking lens, painting little dots or numbers on the filter ring helps so you can set it to the desired polarization.
