1.
As for a light meter download a free app if you have a smart phone. The meter/app corresponds well with my meters and I no longer carry a hand held meter.

 2.
FYI: Early models had "Wetzlar" engraved but how early in the production run depends on the number.

 3.
Amazon is currently taking pre-orders. Price is just under $100.

 4.
Have you made your decision? Several years ago I asked this same question of a well known photographer and he recommended the Zeiss as a companion to my Summicron. I have been very happy with the Zeiss and often use. Truth be told I have kept a record over the last 4/5 years of which 50mm I have used with my Leica. (I also have a 50mm Elmar-m.) What stands out is the image captured and not the lens. Personally, the only lenses that I have found to be distinctly different are the old screw mount lenses, the Summitar and the Elmar f3.5. As a caveat Good photographs will compensate for the lens.

 5.
You can pick up generic lens caps very inexpensively.

 6.
IMHO the F3hp is the highlight of SLR w/o motor drive. It is a fantastic instrument; not only does it take Nikon lenses but there are Zeiss lenses made for it. Nikon F4/F5 prices are unbeatable, they take the same lenses and are unquestionable much less expensive that comparable digital (for the amateur/proam) for many personal uses. Though I have never used the Nikon motor drive series for long range animal photography I have used it for action photos for my son's sports. I could grab 2.3 shots on the motor drive auto focus w/o problems. On a roll of 36 I could have 10-12 distinct images. I can't see spending 7k on a Nikon D series for a kid's soccer game. Again, just my opinion on cameras v. money.

 7.
Get the Leica as you will never look back. With the Zeiss you will always question your decision.

 8.
Leica M6 w/50mm Summicron V.III. For increased reliability add an extra battery to your pocket.

 9.
Best for street photography w/meter Leica M6 & any 50mm or 35mm Summicron. As someone told me many years ago eventually you will buy a Leica and whether or not you keep it is up to you.
