Interesting placement of the wreck at the base of a wall. I love how the benthic life seemingly springs forth from every available surface here.
-
I captured this image during an exciting jaunt offshore to explore the life
gathering around some buoys. Please share your thoughts.

In honor of Halloween, a face-hugging octopus rides on the head of a
pelagic seahorse at night 2 miles offshore of Oahu.
-
It doesn't look much like an adult, but a 1 cm long young mahi came in to
investigate my lighting setup on Saturday night.
-
Cool peek through Snell's window!
-
Had a chance encounter with the tippy top of the food chain this weekend.
-
I love how you used a wider aperture to bring the head into sharp focus but kept the body softer. Very nice!
-
I love how the blue splash contrasts against the tan water surface and dark background. The only thing I would have done is been tempted to zoom in on the bear a little closer since the right margin doesn't add much to the shot. Nice image!

I recently ran into some blue sharks while underwater offshore of Rhode
Island. I got a lot of clear shots depicting just the animal, but felt the
bubbles added some movement while boat hull in the background helped
put this image in perspective. I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Thanks for looking.

I usually take marks off for over-doing the Photoshop stuff, but in this case it makes for a stunning effect. Not to mention your subject-wow! As you already stated, smooth greens should be pretty common, but darned if I ever found one growing up in the thick of their territory. Smashing image.

This icon of my childhood is one of my first attempts at photographing wild
snakes.
-
I've never seen a flying fish before. This guy/gal was predictably hovering
just under the surface on a pelagic night dive.

The shrimp/urchin combo here works well. I always try to include some way I would improve the shot for next time, so in this case I would use the old adage get close, then get closer. Moving in to the shrimp even more, possibly with a diopter, would make the subject really pop.
-
You have yourself a beautiful subject and background. My only suggestion would be to isolate the shrimp subject by getting down on its level putting it against a blue/black background, thus using the anemone as a sort of substrate. I really like the colors here.

How do you like it and, more importantly, what could be done better?

My buddy found this plane wreck off Oahu recently and asked me to come
along to snap some photos. Even if it was too deep to render any
appreciable color, it was a real treat to see.

All comments and critiques are welcome.

This cone snail (Pionoconus striatus) has stung a membrane designed to
collect its deadly venom. Cone snails produce between 50 and 100
different compounds that have potential to be utilized for human needs
such as medicines.

The critter was about 8 inches long.
-
How deep? Only about 40 feet down. Many animals live hundreds or thousands of feet deep during the day but come to the surface at night to feed.

This alien aquatic creature is a ctenophore that is able to gulp off pieces of
its prey by pinching one end of its hollow body closed. What does it eat?
Other ctenophores! Enjoy.

Not a worry. Watermarks can be a sensitive subject. Soe people can't stand images with them, others know what it is like to be ripped off. I'm somewhat new to using them and thus am still working on one that doesn't distract from the image. Your comment merely punctuated the fact that I have some work to do still.
-
I'm sorry you don't care for it. The purpose of the watermark is less advertising (I don't actually sell anything-the site is more of a creative showplace) and more copyright protection. When I first saw my photos used elsewhere under the name of a different photog, it really was a horrible feeling. After a few incidents, I changed tactics. I am fully aware that a signature can be photoshopped out, but it is that one extra step that the would-be thief has to take.
Tiger Shark on Blue

I recently had an encounter with a majestic tiger shark off the north shore
of Oahu. I'd love to hear your thoughts.
