  1. Well, I sort of agree with you but full resolution would simply be an overkill for any gallery. Thanks Josh for responding by the way. I mean this is around 1000px high,

Click next, and next, and next, and so on ... or here,

I think one can judge the ability of camera/lens combination from these sizes here. I think.

Downsizing to almost half from the ones above would only add to the workflow and less detailed images at end. They do look fine from the thumbnails, as here,

But the images I am afraid do not.

  2. Hello,

Is it possible to increase the image size limit to at least 1000px wide (or

tall) and 500k? I noticed that once marginally larger images are uploaded, they

get downsized to where they start showing very pronounced artifacts. Not only it

makes difficult to judge the abilty of the camera/lens but at times almost

impossible to tell if the image is in focus to begin with.

    Thank you,

  3. This is very strange forum indeed! I typed in rather long answer, previewed it, clicked on 'Notify me of responses' and my entire text is gone!

Anyway, go figure yourself, here are few links to start with,

Mind you, screw focus lenses (not AF-S) will not work on D40. Otherwise this one would be my #1 on the list,

So far I have been using Tokina 12-24/4 and I absolutely love it! Let me know if you want to see samples.

    Good luck to you,

  4. I see! Mike and Peter thank you! Now as Peter displayed one of my images I see it is somehow resized, as my signature does not read clearly in the lower right corner. What is the best recommended size for images? Also for the gallery.

This brings another question (should not it be posted in other thread) - when resizing images, is not there like some 'good' ratio, as 25%, 50%, etc ... and not just random numbers? Anyone knows?

    Thanks,

    - Sergey

  5. Few questions, first on the subject and others are added.

    1) While responding to the post I tried to link images that I felt were relevant

    to the discussion,

    http://www.photo.net/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg?msg_id=00PTTK

The links however do not show as click-able, but as plain text instead. Is this

how it is meant to be? I would not mind if administrators could fix it for me

this time (if it is possible and/or necessary).

I am so far new here, so I do not have many images at photo.net yet.

    2) Can images be directly displayed and not as links?

    3) Can posts be re-edited after submitted? (I probably need to browse more to

    see it myself).

    5) What is the difference between post as html and post as plain text? Somehow

it seems text format works better for me this far.

    Thanks,

    - Sergey

  6. I was trying to contact the administrators through the "contact us" form, and got

    "Error

The message could not be sent. The error message was:

Expected a 250 status line; got: 550-Verification failed for"

I reduced the size of my message, still got the same error. Is this somehow

    related to the current update?

    Thanks,

    - Sergey

  7. Hello,

As the title suggests, I would like to know what the space limit for the images

each subscriber gets. Also, if the image/s happens to be on some other server,

like pBase or such, can it be directly linked for photo-critique or does it need

to be uploaded to photo.net first?

    Thanks all,

    - Sergey
