... there are so many wonderful pictures of Saint Remi; like Vezelay it is subject to infinite variation. It has wonderful "bones" and it changes with the light almost minute by minute. We have spent far too little time here, but will have to go back and shoot here again. The nearby Gothic cathedral Notre Dame de Reims also beckons, but as glorious as she is, we prefer Saint Remi.

... not sure that I would have ever done something like this, but it works well . Great coloring in the stained glass, echoed a bit more faintly in the glass in the chancel. Great structure here, well captured.

... haven't been able to spend much time on PN, and it is a pleasure to come back and find shots like this. I love how the shot looks past the shaded foreground pillars to the beautifully lit altar in the side chapel. Fine fine work.

... was the tympanum always here or is that a recent replacement. Checked out the closeup briefly and it almost seems like a mosaic. But this is just superbly detailed and composed. Well done.

... would not change a single thing about this image. You've captured the soul of the building with the light/shadow play on the sweeping towers. Wonderful.
-
... this shot in particular. The technique works wonderfully to convey a charged atmosphere, of electrons bombarding us and wifi waves flowing around us. Beautiful.
-
... gives a wonderful stability to this church. As usual, beautifully photographed and processed, George.
-
... superb work, as usual, Theo. New camera? BTW, one of the great things about this shot is how "cool", chilled, the sunlight feels.
-
... you've done justice to a superb structure with these photographs. Well done.
-
... looking back to the west end of the cathedral. Excellent capture of both the architecture and the ambience with dramatic coloring and composition.
-
... terrifying and ennobling at the exact same time. There is something so shocking and sensitive about the brutality that resulted in life like this. I can only congratulate you on the birth, and on the photograph.
-
... leave it as is. Wonderful light source from the roof, framing the open window and the chair. Great natural diagonal. Wonderful capture.

... and the fallen home of a neglected god. Who would have thought Pink Floyd would do the elegy? "And silence that speaks so much louder than words, of promises broken".
-
... calm reflection, heads breaking the horizon. Well done.
-
... you are a poet as well as a photographer.
-
... except to perhaps crop out the left window. The cloth spread out to the left is a lovely image, and the red ruffles. One of my favorites of your recent shots.
-
... another reason that the shot is slightly soft is that Pnina was on my boat, moving slowly and gently, but moving nonetheless. And while I was with her at the moment in West Falmouth harbor, I never saw this view that she captured so wonderfully. But that is why she is Pnina ...

... your portfolio is loaded with gems like this, Pnina. The theatrical lighting is great, but the real treat is how you've captured the body positions of the doll and dancer so perfectly; the effect is mechanistic and wonderfully artificial, which I am sure was the design of the choreographer. So very well done, dear Pnina, my elfin friend.

... I prefer the colored version as well, but this is a very interesting shot nevertheless. Love his concentration as well.
-
... the crop and the framing combine to make this an elegant presentation. Great job.

.... this was taken four years ago in the great Vezelay basilica. I was able to duplicate it this last September, but without the wonderful light streaming in from the windows. The Morvan is a joy, PJ and I will be buying a house in that region (probably Avallon), so we will be spending much more time there. If you are going to explore the churches, please see the churches in Avallon and Vezelay. The great Fontenay abbey is not far either, but there are so many choices. Good luck, and I look forward to more of your posts. That alcove is Saulieu is a jewel and we enjoyed the shot.

... fine rendition of this lovely church. Well done.

... enhanced by the bw treatment and the dramatic sky. Nice detail throughout, which I appreciate very much. I highly recommend that other viewers look at the larger version, it is much more impressive. Well done.

... really brings out the rhythmic patterns of the cloister pillars and trefoils. Beautiful shot.

... Classic, guys. I had no idea one could review such a shot :)
She was wonderful, by the way. After awhile we started talking and she took such delight that we were so captivated by "her" church (she lived just a block away from this church in Saint Martin de Boscherville in Normandy). Later, a "petit fonctionaire" - little bureaucrat - came up to me to "investigate" my activities. She took him aside and told him off in no uncertain manner.
But I love the shot (which PJ took, of course).
Photis, thanks for your "warm" words, which certainly help in this winter!
