  1. I started with film and have stayed there. Digital capture hasn't influenced my personal style much. I am the "picture guy" in the family, so out of convenience I capture and store family photos digitally now. My personal and commercial work is all film capture and digital delivery; hybrid workflow. I have progressed through the formats, starting with 126, 135, 120 and now 4x5. In the past month I have used 135, 120 and 4x5 in both color and black and white. My work now is, hopefully, better thought out in terms of lighting and design. And I think I am incrementally better in the technical details like exposure and processing. Always room for improvement.
  2. Can one learn to be creative? Yes. Because I believe all people have creativity inside them. It takes practice, or learning, to bring the creativity out. Creativity may manifest itself in any number of ways from painting to poetry to cooking to athletic ability. Or photography.
  3. Ray S Re: The comment on lens range. Have a look at the RB67. The lens range is from 37mm-500mm and includes fisheye, macro, and soft focus models, along with excellent prime lenses. For lenses longer than 500mm on 6x7, I can't recall ever seeing an image captured with such a focal length on this film format. This is a great landscape, portrait, nature and still life camera. I take it anywhere without hesitation. Lots of accessories and solid build quality. Good used market. Take a look at the Pro SD model, it is the most recent and has a few nice upgrades from the earlier models.
  4. Bring strobes and a reflector, and do the shoot when the restaurant is closed, for example on a Monday. There is lots of information online to show you food setups and lighting. Even if you are on location during business hours, set the shots up on a table away from the main flow. Best to do it during a low traffic time, for example 3:00pm. Price wise you need to do some research, there is lots of info online in the first page of a google search.
  5. Hello, according to this thread: Wide Angle Lens for Busch Pressman 2.25x3.25 a 65mm Schneider Super Angulon lens is likely workable, and a 58mm Konica might be workable.
  6. As mentioned above, I would also shoot it at 200, one stop over. If I were doing the processing, I would give the developer 15 second more. Normal C-41 developer is 3 minutes 15 seconds at 100 deg F. I would give it 3:30 or 3:40. If your lab can make that adjustment for you I would consider it. Same advice for the 800. 400 EI and 3:30 in the developer.

  8. I like my Sekonic L758DR. I use it for all types of photography - landscape, still life, food, architecture and portrait. With strobe and natural lighting. You are the best judge of the cost/value equation.
  9. Pentax K-mount, using this adapter: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/995321-REG/fotodiox_rb67_pk_p_pentax_k_mount_adapter_with.html Other versions of this adapter exist for Nikon, Sony and Canon cameras.
  10. Another vote for the RB67 and 180mm lens for portraits.
  11. Henry thanks for posting. What is your take on the photo business? I notice that Unique Photo in New Jersey is doing relatively well. Their store on Route 46 is relatively new, and the clerks tell me business is good. When I visit there are normally a good number of customers in the store.
  12. If you have a cooler and a hot water source, it should be possible to achieve 100 degrees F without too much difficulty. Put the chemical bottles into the cooler, fill the cooler with hot water from the tap, then close the lid of the cooler. This heats all of my C-41 chemicals to 105 degrees F in about 10 minutes.
  13. I am converting to PET drink bottles in 0.5 liter and 1 liter sizes, after 35 years of using brown gallon jugs. Brown jugs are normally PE (polyethylene) and are not as good as preventing oxygen ingress as is a PET bottle. 1 liter beverage bottles, such as "vitamin water", can be purchased at discount stores like Wal Mart, K-Mart, etc. for $0.69 each. This is the same or lower cost as can be found ordering on line, when the cost of shipping is considered. I store C-41 chemicals in these clear PET bottles, and will eventually store my black and white chemicals in them also. Clorox bottles I am pretty sure are polyethylene (PE) or polypropylene (PP), neither of which are as good as PET. So go out and buy a few bottles of sweet beverage, pour it down the drain at home, wash the bottles and use them for photo chemicals.
  14. <p>Hello all</p> <p>Long time RB67 owner/user. The production date codes are 2 letter codes on adhesive stickers/decals. At one time I was able to find the way to translate 2-letter code to year of manufacture. I have looked on this and other sites without success. <br> <br />Can someone please point me to the translator for 2-letter productions codes and year of manufacture? Thank you. </p> <p>For my RB67 Pro-S system I have the following codes: <br> 120 roll film back: HF<br> 6x7 rotating back: EJ<br> Pro-S camera body: EK<br> Sekor C 90/3.8 lens: CL</p>
