I would use the 70-200 on one camera body (D200) and my 28-105 or 18-70 mm DX on a second camera body (D70). Very broad coverage, no change of lenses. May have to change the flash from camera to camera. Bring 1-2 two additional sets of batteries for the flash, and several extra CF cards.
I love working with the 70-200, but there are many times where it is simply too long, even at events.

I use my D200 as my primary body with my D70 as a secondary and backup. I usually try to use two different lenses (one on each camera) and will use both during a shoot. Not sure I can really tell the difference on prints (never done a blinded taste test, but I alway put what I believe will be my dominate lens on the D200.
Good look.

I am looking for thoughts and suggestions as to issues and techniques for photographing a regatta
(competitive sailing event). I will be provided a powerboat and skipper to take pictures.
I will most likely be working with a D200 70-200 VR/2.8 lens with a D70 as a backup
Looking for someone who has actually done this sort of shoot.
Thanks

I do a fair amount of photojournal shooting where lighting patterns are constantly
changing. One thing that I have found that "works" on my D200 is going to manual and
setting my shutter speed and aperture to the background light requirements making sure
that the shutter speed is ok with my flash sync speed (1/250 or less on the D200). I then
set my flash to -2/3 to -1 EV (SB800), but if the flash result is not quite right, I can adjust
and take another, but the formula seems to work. This allows the background lighting to
be right and my flash does not really contribute to it..while the flash contributes
dominately to the foreground lighting. Shutter speed is not as critical in the flash because
flash duration usually only fills only a tiny fraction of the time the shutter is open.

I find this thread interesting. I shot a family renuion (650 images) on my Nikon d200 to 4
gig SanDisk Extreme III CF cards. Came home and put the first card into a my Belkin Hi-
speed USB 2.0 on my G5 iMac and a couple of images appeared in the file window to
transfer and import into Portfolio and my system hung.
I rebooted and started the process again, but this time with a second card with pictures on
it, the CF card attached via the Belkin CF reader hung the computer.
I then tried a Lexar 1 gig card from my D70, going thru the Belkin, and a very strange
name was assigned to the card (something like NKKKN D30) and the computer hung.
I did the Lexar trick several times, reformating it (because my camera, the D70 could not
read it either) each time.
Finally, after reformating the Lexar card, I plug the card into the Mac via a LaCie 4-in-1
card reader, and it was fine in the sense that the test images were in place and readable..
in other words it was behaving normally.
Everything is RAW. After about 6 hours, Rescuepro has managed to recover 228 of the
232 files on the first CF card, and I am working on the second card now.
My third CF card remains in my D200 and readable at least on the camera.
My question: Is it possible for a CF card reader to corrupt a CF card, and specifically does
anyone have any experience with the Belkin Hi-Speed USB 2.0 reader?
Thanks

D200 pop up flash
in Nikon

I recently purchased a D200 and the pop up flash comes up, but does not flash.
Are there settings that prevent the flash from working or setting that I have
to do to make sure it works?
Thanks
