I don't think this fits into "abstract" as so many other of these type
of images do, since we know what it is and I'm not sure that it fits
into "Fine Art" (there really needs to be a category for "Motion).
This is another in my series of night photography at the local fair. I
find, that for me, recording what I see is not nearly as much fun as
creating something beautiful and fun. Looking forward to hearing what
you think about this one. Enjoy!

Thank you Doug, I'm glad it could bring beauty into your life. .....Sherle

Hi Roger,
Thank you for stopping by and commenting. I think this has to be one of the ones that I will print for my final critique. I think what attracts me the most is that it looks like a light flower. I might end up changing its working title, we'll see. .....Sherle

Hi Gordon,
Thank you for the lovely titles... I always appreciate your view of the world. Funny... I was at the other end of the fair photographing other things when I fist saw this and I knew I wanted to photograph it, but I took my time getting there almost as if I was treasuring the thought of what I could do rather than the actual doing. For the first time I was working from a tripod in my motion night photography, it changed what I could come out with and how I worked, but I came away with new ideas. Did you see the other one, called "Burst?"
Thanks again, .....Sherle

I just love it when on a walkabout I find an image as lovely as this
one, especially when its a surprise. Looking forward to your thoughts
and suggestions. .....Enjoy!

Thank you Matthew, I appreciate you stopping by. I like playing with what I see, not just recording what I see. Some images work and some don't, but the point is to play! .....Thanks again, Sherle

Very lovely Roger... I'm not sure in a place such as this, that I would ever run out of subjects or types of light to explore with my camera. What a breath-taking view! You are a lucky man to live in such a lovely environment. .....Sherle

Hi Rashed,
Thank you your lovely comments. Is Pattaya a place? I love night photography and experimenting with form and shape and making something different than what one would expect from a traditional object. Thanks again for the appreciation. .....Sherle

Hi Pete,
Thanks for coming to take a look and for finding an image you felt like commenting on. I have seen Gordon Bowbrick's work, (my goal is to do some work as beautiful as Gordon's) he had followed a thread over here from Roger Sonneland's site shortly after I joined PN. My favorite version of photography is pushing the traditional view of what people expect to see. But mostly I like doing it because it makes me happy!
I love your description of this image... PlayDoh :-)... I have thought about cropping it differently but I haven't decided how I should do that yet, I don't want to lose too much of the really interesting stuff. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I get easily bored riding as a passenger so my camera comes out often when on the road. :-)
Thank you again for your time and critique..... Sherle

The guitar is beautifully lit and I love the negative space surrounding it, acting as an envelope from which the guitar will emerge. The only thing I could wish for would be for the shadow to be opened up just a bit. The guitar taking up so little of the overall space keeps the viewer interested in the guitar only and not everything surrounding it. It speaks to the music of the soul, nicely done! ....Sherle

I'm taking a night photography class and my professor took us out to
this little local fair. I am not one to take the "standard" shots so
I played with many little techniques and came away with some really
fun and interesting images of which this is one. Enjoy!

Hi John,
I have never seen this as an abstract so I truly appreciate your interpretation of it. You have helped me look at it with fresh eyes. This image was taken on a lovely spring day right after the rain and water had filled all the ruts and the flowers were bursting out of the ground everywhere. I was just about to leave and in looking back at something else caught this sight which was begging to be photographed. I wasn't much of a photographer at the time, I was so new I didn't understand aperture or shutter speed, just knew I liked the way it looked not really knowing why.
Thank you for taking the time to look over my portfolio, giving me a nice critique and for opening my eyes. .....Sherle

Thank you Craig, I have always wondered about this image. Thinking maybe I had too complicated of a setup, etc. I appreciate you letting me know you find it good. I love critiques, they help me to "see" more than most anything, so your words are highly valued here and in the mushroom critique. .....Sherle

Hi Craig,
Funny how everyone's perceptions are so different, because for me the berries add lovely contrast and texture. However I do see your point. I have many images of just the mushroom and thanks to your comment I will be looking at them with fresh eyes. I suspect I will be posting another mushroom image soon. Thank you so much for your critique. .....Sherle

Simple lighting, simple subject. I was on a walk when I saw these
awesome mushrooms in a neighbors yard, so... (not wanting the mushroom
spoor to get all over her yard) I picked them, brought them home and
played with them until they fell apart. Enjoy!

HI Deborah, I'm glad you can be inspired to take photos close to home. I believe it was Imogen Cunningham who, when she taught photo classes, would have her students make a meaningful photograph each day for a month within 30' of their homes. This was done to teach them to "see." So I look to "see" not just record. Do you have any of your garden images uploaded yet? I look forward to staying in touch with you. .....Sherle

Kudo's to you for getting this sad scene. I think I would have been trying to comfort the little one instead of using my camera. Guess that's why I'm not a photojournalist. Excellent control of lighting. .....Sherle

Thank you Grigoriy. This vineyard is in a valley surrounded by mountains, the lowest being on the east end. The mountains to the west are higher and by 5pm, this time of year, all light has left the vineyard. Right before the sun disappears its still too "hot" to take good photos, so morning was it for this shoot. Though I do love evening light! Thanks again! .....Sherle

I'm so glad that even with the crop you still have the entire veil there. This is just beautiful and of course, the lighting is exquisite. .....Sherle

Thank you for sharing Dave, I love creating abstract work and have been doing it in a wet color lab for awhile. Since most people are getting rid of their wet labs I have to learn how to create what I like on the computer. Your work intrigues me greatly! Again... thank you very much! ....Sherle

Creating the unusual out of the usual is what inspires me, I really
enjoyed how this one came out. Looking forward to hearing what you
think, good and bad. Enjoy!
