I just love the repetitions of the greens and yellows, not just in the frog, but also in his environment. He looks so sleepy, with just a little curiosity as to why he has such a bright light on him. The lighting shows him off so very well. Very nicely done. .....Sherle

Come on... over here... come join us, were having a great time, says Big Blue
No thank you... I follow the beat of my own drummer... I think I will just keep heading this way, marching straight and true. Thanks anyway, maybe we'll meet up another day. Creatively done Gordon! .....Sherle

Stunning colors, it would make Galen Rowell very proud (http://www.mountainlight.com/).
For me the most striking and unusual is the orange to greens, to cyan and off to just a hint of blue... just beautiful! .....Sherle

What a toothy smile... don't think I would want to meet that "beast." I like the creativity in shooting from the top down and I like the crop. Interesting view. .....Sherle

Hi Ben, I think its wonderful that you noticed this one. As to how I did it I used a zoom blur with my 24-105. I'm not sure if it was a zoom in or out as I do them both ways each time I try this just to see what the differences are and I don't really look at my screen much when I am working (playing?). .....Sherle

Thank you Ruud, I was so focused on another shot I almost didn't see it... Sherle

Very beautiful and classic, though I wish you hadn't had to use flash. In this image I think you could use some vignetting in the corners to keep the eye on the butterfly and not on the dirt and weeds in the corners and to help blend in the shadow of the butterfly. You might consider cropping down from the top just to get rid of the shadow from the upper leaves. Still beautiful butterfly. .....Sherle

I love the composition here, just like a bunny to be ever curious... I have 4 and they are so sweet and funny. The only thing I don't really like is the vignetting of the corners, especially where the nose is. I think the face is the most important part of this image and the vignetting has partially obscured it. .....Sherle

Hi Steve,
I have a couple where I exposed for a longer time, the reason I didn't use those was because the white of the main neon totally blew and I wasn't able to see the colors that are around it. I suppose I could try dodging the right just a little bit and see if it wouldn't open up just a tad more. Thank you for your cropping suggestions, I might play with it some. Wet streets are a really good idea, just have to wait for the rainy season where hopefully not only will the streets be wet but the building also. Thank you for spending time and giving me interesting comments. .....Sherle

I like the abstract and the technique, one never knows what one will get when doing this type of work and that's half the fun, at least for me. I would suggest however that you take a look at it in PS or some other image editing program and look at its histogram. If I could be so bold as to suggest that you pull the white slider down to the edge of the "hill." You will see so many more details and the colors will pop. .....Sherle

Almost had the police called on me when I was taking this image... it
wasn't my car... However my hubby saved the day with hand signals to
let them know what I was up to, they weren't about to step out of
their restaurants and ask me what I was doing. In their defense it was
late at night and the two of us were looking at the car quite
intently...lol!! Enjoy!

There doesn't seem to be just the right category but it seems to me
this might be closest. I am hoping you will let me know either what
you like about it or give me suggestions for improvement. Enjoy!

Hi Sara, I think this one is the most successful of the three, especially in becoming something it isn't. The texture is really interesting and the hints of the golden color help to break up the blue and since its a contrasting color really helps the blue to pop.. I am always drawn to abstract images and this one is very well done, it can be many things for many people and that is what abstract is all about. .....Sherle

Hi Sara, your comments are appreciated and enjoyed. I did not use a filter, I was already at 10,000 feet so the sky was intensely blue and the clouds magnificent. When I edited this to black and white I made sure I kept the same contrast ratio as the color version of this image. .....Sherle

I missed one of my night photography classes because I traveled to
Texas for my job for two weeks, so I had to make it up. My professor
told me that she wanted me to photograph neon lights. She told me of a
couple of places to go and I chose to go to an older theater in the
area. After taking pictures there and at the rail yard for a bit I
wandered down the street looking for something else to capture. When I
came upon this theater with all of its interesting colors and shapes.
Looking forward to hearing what you think... My professor hasn't even
seen them yet. Enjoy!

Hi Martijn,
Thought I would come and comment, thank you for stopping by my site. Nice use of the rule of thirds here. The image seemed to me to be a bit flat in its overall tone so I played with it a bit in Photoshop. All I did was adjust the levels slider to the edges of the mountain and then adjust the curves to really make the colors pop. If you have PS you might play with it a bit and see what happens. Still its interesting work. .....Sherle

Hi Martijin,
I'm glad you noticed this one, it was one of my first times out with this technique and a tripod. I have played with motion blur for many years, just had never used a tripod and it really changed the results. Some I was happy with, others not, but that's what experimentation is all about.
Thank you for showing me some of your work, it is intriguing.

Hi Roger,
The light is striking! I love the curl of the petal and that you captured the underside of it. The out of focus bit of specular highlights act as an arrow pointing us back to the masterpiece. The only little nit pick I have is the pink, it being the only pink in the shot really distracts me. Love the color and the composition. .....Sherle
