  1. Hello, you asked the question, " Does the shallow depth of field bother you?" What if I said yes. What would you do about it, change ? Do you take pictures to be true to your heart or to please the crowds. Let me explain please. If others like them great, if not so what. Be not concerned with what others think be true to thyself.

Having said this I will add that it is more flattering for the subject to have both eyes sharply defined. Cheers.

Hello Christine, you may have heard the term Leading line, This is the line that takes our eye into the picture. In this case it is the waters edge. Our eye is drawn to this line and will follow it searching for a focal point. A point of interest. This what is lacking in this shot. Composition is excellent. Having used the rule of thirds to your advantage. Cheers.

Yes Ronda the vignetting is on purpose, It was done in Photosho. The photo was taken in Hagley Park Christchurch, New Zealand. Be aware when using circular polariser with wide angle lenses. You may end up with dark uneven patches. This can easily be observed whilst looking through the viewfinder and rotating the filter.

    Cheers and best wishes.

What did Mick Jagger say. You can't always get what you want, but if you try real hard you may get what you need. Yes, I do very much understand that often what we see and feel is very difficult to convey in our photograph. But here in is the joy, when we succeed in doing so. And when we have we know.

Hello, from a compositional point of view this is a huge improvement. Perhaps a little bit more breathing space for your subject. You have isolated your flower from the background, however, it is still very distracting. Try for an even background. Cheers.

Hello, BK Lee, this is a much better result than the image I just commented on.No ugly shadows and beautiful rich strong colours. I believe this is a lotus flower? Again you have placed the flower central. Avoid cutting of the tips of the petals. Either take in the whole flower or in this case I think you would have got a much stronger image if you move in closer. Cheers.

Hello Massimiliano, I think this shot could have been improved by using a shallow depth of field. This would have isolated the dolphin from the background after all it is the centre of attention. As it is is the dolphin is lost in the background. A fill flash would have helped as well. Cheers

Hello Veselina. It seems Georg has beaten me to it. I was going to suggest the same. A wonderful candid portrait. I cannot see apart from cropping how this could be improved. Cheers.

Hello Ronda. Hanna has fairly well said what I was going to say as soon as I saw this image. We often make the mistake of trying to cram in too much. Often less is much better. One other little trick is if you wish to simulate early morning dew use a mister to produce a drop or two on the petals. This can often add a little glamour to your image. Cheers.
