6.
DXO offers a free 30 day fully functional trial. When it comes to noise reduction and lens specific corrections (distortion, sharpening, CA, etc), I don't think you will find a better program.

  7.
It would be difficult to see any difference in images shot with any of the three bodies you are referring to and even some of the other bodies mentioned after post processing unless you are making 6' prints and looking at them from 6" away.

Since you mention you are looking for the best IQ, you will want to consider shooting RAW and do at least a little PP to achieve your goal.

But if you are looking for all around improved/best performance, the D810 is the best choice.

  11.
By the numbers, IQ would basically be the same between the two cameras.

  12.
The problem with the Imaging Resource site is that they compare in-camera JPGs, not RAW files.

After post processing of RAW files, you likely would not see any differences. DXO rates them pretty much the same (it should be virtually impossible to see any real differences in identically shot/processed RAW files).

  13.
Yet to find a bad m43 lens.

A couple of other lenses you might enjoy in addition to the two you are already considering, the 14mm Lumix (excellent for low light & wide angle) and 75mm Olympus (excellent for sports).

    D60

If your camera is indeed malfunctioning and a reset does not correct the issue, you can likely pickup a used D60 off the big auction site for less money than the repair. But frankly at this point because of the age of the D60 model, I would invest the money in a newer body with warranty.

  15.
From DC...

  16.
You can expect a bit of a difference in IQ from the D800 (notso much from the D800e) to the D810 (mainly with regard to overall sharpness), but not so much/as much between the D800e and D810. But it is small and if images are shot in RAW and properly processed, there might not be any real differences after post processing.

With regard to all other attributes, I think it would be difficult to see any differences after post processing identical RAW files.

  17.
I think if you view or download identically shot studio test images in RAW format, you will see the true differences in image quality (or lack thereof). There just isn't that much of a difference. Are you comparing studio shots or randomly shot images?

You can view comparison studio shot RAW (and JPG) images here:
http://www.dpreview.com/previews/nikon-d810/7

  18.
When it comes to IQ, there is very little difference between the D800e and the D810. DXO's rating indicate that both cameras will basically give the same results. It appears (based on user comments) that the biggest improvements with the D810 over its predecessors is in the camera's functionality.

What are you expecting?

  19.
Which body are you using it on? That will be the limiting factor. The same problem will arise when you go to download the files to your computer. Do you have USB 3?

  20.
Distortion is one of the easiest 'fixes' there is to do during post processing. In any case, I would imagine that the D7100's automatic distortion control would easily correct the issue in-camera anyway, wouldn't it?

  21.
At 1/2000, I would not be so concerned with the tripod. You can get quality images from that lens hand held at that speed.

  22.
This is not normal for this lens. My copy is sharp at 400mm wide open. Yours should be too.

Did you buy the lens new or used?

  23.
I should have included in my post above that since you are new to digital photography, you should learn about shooting RAW. This will give you the most out of any DSLR you invest in.
