    Brad,

I like the fishing reels, but a different perspective would work better for me. IMHO --- The reel on left needs less of a crop - more wood on the left; and perhaps the shot might have been taken far enough away to completely frame the boat between the left and center fishing poles. The background could be masked with a slight blur adding some drama and further diffusing the boat and bridge.

You tones are superb, and the concept is excellent.

  1. Thank you Liz.

This is an example of post processing overkill, although I like the results (with the exception of the nasty fringe on tall building at right and the slight upward tilt seen at the bottom center).

This was taken through a window, without a polarizer, so there were reflections to remove without affecting other lighting. Taken at 17mm, lens distortion "tilted" walls of foreground building, which was corrected with Photoshop's Lens Distortion filter.

There are several (maybe too many) layer masks and adjustment layers used to affect overall lighting and selective tonal adjustments. Each mask and adjustment layer has some "painting", using the PS brush tool at various opacities, to produce the overall effect -- a lot of work.

Excellent overall quality. Tone work is superb; very good highlight work on the masts.

I like the composition view, but I would have the "arch" cropped into the center of both corners.

Also, your large view is too big -- the whole image is not visible; and what kind of camera and processing did you use here?

  2. I also like this one best. The lighting captured on chateau in the background is superb here; and the whole scene is well contrasted in the blue/green duotone. Shadow on right edge of foreground building maybe looks a little artificial, but I like it.

The diagonal of the composition expertly shows near/far giving visual interest throughout the scene. Your attention to vertical alignment, of tops of buildings, adds depth to this masterpiece.

  3. Thanks for viewing Jeff,

    J. Bradley Deal is a PN member. Ozzy, indeed, but its what you can't see -- Lamb of God, Slayer, Belphegor.... and on and on..... I will be in this studio on 9/15, I'll take the album covers.
