Canon 5D, WOW! Lionel, that's not fair! Instead of buying such an expensive camera to make fun of those poor Marionnaud people, you could have offered them a new letter with the money!

Beautiful, Lionel. I like it very much. Except maybe for the centered block. The deep blue is fantastic and I think I prefer your version, which gives a cleaner white to the snow without blowing out the highlights too much. Sorry Patricia! hope you don't mind!

    Salut,

    Laurent.

Beautiful, Don. I'll respect the author's viewpoint and compliment him on the beautiful composition, and the rest of the praise will go to mother nature for the tender green and pink ( the photographer too actually, for he managed to get the right exposure in difficult conditions of wide dynamic range).

Hello Don, As Bill put it this is a very good title for a very beautiful photograph, full of aerian grace. Congratulations.

P.S.: Don, may I say that I miss your thoughtful comments? I'm not very sure about my English at times and I hope I didn't say anything wrong or unpleasant to you? If so I do apologise very sincerely!

    Kindest regards,

    Laurent.

    Yellow Signs

Funny how we see things, Patricia. To me this yellow hue which you created makes this sky golden and rather soothing, and I see it as soft and luminous at the same time, nothing unsettling at all.

It is true that yellow is usually associated with pejorative connotations, but not gold I guess! I like the 50s feel very much too, as in some of your other recent postings.

Hey, I didn't mention that little yellow sign that stands out as the only very bright touch in the composition, great sight and title. Actually, the more I look at this great photo, the more I like it.

Another beautiful capture of lake water and sky. This quiet small wave in the foreground which inspired the caption was there for you see, without a doubt! Those subtle hues and reflections on the water are a sight to see. Still the same lake?

    Congrats, laurent.

  1. I've just had a look at your portfolio which is full of outstanding photos. I can see that you love your mountains as much as I do. Everything has already been said about this particular one, nonetheless I felt like commenting on this fabulous light and landscape you managed to capture. The colour of the water is quite incredible too! I wish I could have taken it myself! Congrats!

Lionel, thanks a lot for your kind comments on my pictures and portfolio.

    I'll be checking out soon.

    Laurent.

Hello, Ken. Beautiful photo, very pure aesthetics. Ken, I've been looking for new postings from you. Are the 3 pictures on your front page the latest? How about posting some new ones?

    Kindest regards, Laurent.

I accept my new title with great pleasure!

Yes, some German friends of mine moved to Freiburg im Breisgau a couple of years ago. I love the town.

And...I've always had good eyes but I think I'll have to go to the optometrist now, after the reading I mean!

Nice to meet you! Lovely idea Hanna. You're right, but it might be even more difficult to pronounce for a Frenchman I'm afraid!

I've had a look at your attachment. Are you a teacher or a student in Freiburg im Breisgau? I was at some friends' there last Sunday!

P.S.: Thanks for the nice comments,

    Cheers, Laurent.

  2. Great, Patricia. Thought it was a wall in the first place, that's why I mentioned DOF. Well done, very natural looking. Your taste is perfect as always!

P.S. : Patricia, you're a magician. Unlike most wizards who keep their secrets for themselves, you are always willing to share and allow everybody to improve their skills. Thank you so much.

    Laurent.

    Pretty in Pink

It depends on what you wanted to achieve, Jim? This looks perfect to me. I like the blurred effect produced by relatively shallow DOF. I think you were right, it may not have been better with smaller aperture and sharpness from foreground to background.

    Congratulations, Laurent.

  3. Beautiful picture, Jim. Good DOF, I like the tilted perspective and framing is perfect. Last but not least, this landscape is really lovely, and the sharpness and perfect dynamic range and tones do justice to that marvellous nature. Regards.
