beautiful image.

i like the cramped compsoure with more space at the bottom than the top, leading to a feeling of restlessness akin to rain. A slight bit of motion blur on the first person's foot, the drops in the water, and the lead-in angle of the low point for draining etc, all lead to a very convincing photo.

a lower POV would lose you separation with the prop and the leading edge of the wing though. Unless the owner was there to move the prop a few inches, i think id rather keep it the way it is.

great composition and tonal control. What film were you using? its amazing how well it held onto those highlights. Might want to bring out the reds just a touch so that it pulls your eye to the left of the frame instead, or darkening the non skid strip by the wing route.

awesome colors (though maybe a touch blue in the whites/highlights?). Great tontal control holding onto the clouds without making the image look compressed. I like how the prop points straight to the corner of the frame, nothing really centered so you're eye can move around.

i like this one from this recent batch. the wide angle effect just makes the F86(?) look that much faster.

can always spot your images in the critique feed... they seem to always have a ton of contrast and popping color, with a tight composition. this image is no exception and it looks great, very dramatic.

man look at those old 3dl's! great shot, perfect timing and great composition. you've captured and element of grace in this photo i fear is lost with the new boats, the AC45's and eventually the 72;s.

Thanks Jim. i;ve got a decent bit of cockpit time these days - both left and right seat. will hopefully get to do a little bit shooting again next week. given all of the IFR conditions we've had up here lately, maybe i'll be able to pull off something a little different.
