orourke 0 Posted November 10, 2011 Scanning some older photos I took and came across this one today taken during the challenger elimination trials for the America's Cup in San Diego 1995. I was able to hop on a perimeter control boat which allowed me access to the race course. The boat ahead is Australia, yacht astern is New Zealand who later went on to win the America's Cup. Sadly, Peter Blake, skipper and syndicate chairman of New Zealand was later murdered by pirates in South America in December 2001. Any comments or critiques are much appreciated......thanks. mark_molde 0 Posted November 10, 2011 As soon as I see the image I'm caught up in its tension! The angles of sails and the motion in the waves create even more "action". I find myself staring at the image, imersed in it. Rather than a pasing glance, I've spent time pondering the story within. Nice job Bill. Link to comment
dblais4 0 Posted November 11, 2011 As a sailor myself, though not at this level, I can anticipate exactly what will happen next in this photo. It must have been a thrill to be in your position to get this shot. Great action photo. Congrats! Link to comment
dangoldman 0 Posted November 11, 2011 man look at those old 3dl's! great shot, perfect timing and great composition. you've captured and element of grace in this photo i fear is lost with the new boats, the AC45's and eventually the 72;s. Link to comment
