HI Nathan,

I find the DR-6 a Godsend while shooting macro...the low camera angles always made it difficult, but now it's a breeze...

However, you do have to focus the DR-6 once it is on the camera...this is done by twisting the eyepiece and it will move up or down to focus itself on the viewfinder of the camera. I forgot that I had to focus the DR-6 once and thought that my lens was messed up because I couldn't see anything in focus with the camera......hahaha

The 60mm would work well for Floral subjects...and the Bokeh (muted/out of focus background) of the 60mm is highly recommended.

Charging battries under those conditions will likely prove challenging.

There are SOLAR cell battery chargers that might work to charge your cameras and flashes, however enough sunlight reaching the SOALR cells in a rainforest might be problematic. I would look for Storm covers to protect your camera and lenses while shooting. ( http://stormjacket.com/ )

Also...you will likely need a good tripod. Without good light, tripods will help alot. The lenses that you mention should be fine...I really can't comment on film other than to say protecting your film from fungus and mildew over a 3 month period in a rain forest might be tough...If you can solve your battery charging problem I'd stick with digital. I haven't received my Nikon 60mm Macro yet...If I plan on using the

new R1 Flash setup with the Nikon 60mm Micro-Nikkor do you still

have to use the Nikon UR-3 lens adapter?

In other words...does the front of the lens rotate while focusing?

I've also had good luck with eBay...feedback ratings do matter, also, good pictures help alot. Getting permission to return does help however, most users with a high feedback rating aren't going to risk their rating to offload a bad lens by giving it high marks. I've been a user for 6 years and have a 100% rating, I work hard for it and I believe alot of other users do to.

Frank...I haven't used that specific Sigma Lens...But I do use the Sigma HSM EX 300 2.8, with both the 2x and 1.4x converters with my D70s and both metering and AF function flawlssly...

I will say that only the Sigma Tele Convereters allowed the AF to function tough...My first Sigma TCs that I bought didn't work right. So before I ordered new Sigma's I tried out Kenko and Tamron. On both of them Metering worked but AF tried to, but didn't work. My portfolio here on Photo.net has several Bird pictures taken with the setup. Good Luck

The Manfrottos I have seen have a mini-tripod feature that is screwed into the bottom section...uncrewing the foot on the bottom section allows you to reverse the 3 hidden mini legs that actually allow the monopod to stand on it's own...are you hearing the internal mini-tripod legs rattling inside the monopod?
