1.
Greeting and Happy Holidays from sunny Florida!
I am looking to purchase a late model Zone VI 4x5 camera...the models that are available at KEH are older models, and don't have the improvements of the later models. And there doesn't seem to be allot of choice on our favorite auction site...
Does anyone know of any stores in your areas that might have any available? Or does anyone know of any LF specialty stores that don't have high internet visibility that I might not have found.
Or...does anyone have a nice newer model Zone VI looking for warmer climates?
Here's to hoping all your film holders stay dust free!
2.
Good afternoon all,

Lack of movements aside...should a Nikkor SW 75mm f/4.5 lens function on a Zone VI Classic 4x5? I found one at a good price, and it's allot faster than my 90mm f/8 Schneider...I know that the Zone VI really can't use recessed lens boards because of the small size of the front standard...and I really don't want to go to the trouble of switching to a bag bellows...

Comments appreciated!

  3.
Hi Michael,
Thanks for the response...The Toyo cameras I've seen have all been very good...it didn't help though when I spoke to one of their dealers who when asked about the CF responded..."it's a plastic camera...I didn't think much about it". That response didn't help garner a feeling of confidence. Before diving in to order one I'd rather be able to hold one in my hands...so I'll likely plan a trip...
Thanks again!
4. I am in the market for a portable field camera and wonder if anyone owns, or has used the Toyo 45 CF?

I'd like to get opinions of durability, ease of use, and fit and function.

    Thanks!

  5.
I talked to Pete and he quoted an approximate figure of $175 to replace the Titanium Shutter...I imagine that the Titanium one costs a bit more than the standard shutter...not to mention labor for the repair. I know I'll be allot more careful next time.

I actually consider myself quite lucky with cameras and lenses...the last repair I needed was a CLA on a Nikon Ftn 30 years ago after a rather lubrious Christmas party...and getting sick all over my camera...I tipped the technician really well.

  6. While attempting to load my mint FE2, I noticed the film counter hadn't reset. I opened up the back...pulled the film leader off the take

up spool and advanced the film leader while not noticing that the film leader had slid between the leaves of the shutter...result,

    botched shutter.

Question: can the titanium shutters still be replaced? Are parts available? Or, would it be less costly to find another?

    Still sobbing in St. Pete.

  7.
Happy holidays everyone...

While I know that the D90 is far from an optimum video platform, I didn't expect to see such harsh flickering from the Florescent lights in the room at our Community center. My iPhone 4 didn't display any and I had to resort to using it for this evenings festivities.

I set the WB to florescent hoping that it would help...and it didn't. Any ideas on how to tame it for video purposes?

Thanks,
8.
I am hoping to start an email campaign to try to get Fuji to re-consider introducing FB-100B45...

Please consider going to:
http://www.fujifilmusa.com/support/S...prodcat=582341

...and asking for them to reconsider discontinuing one of the only instant black and white films left.

cheer!
George Goodroe

  9.
I agree...my Sigma 300mm 2.8 has served me very well -
http://www.naturephotographers.net/sigma30028.html
I have also owned and used the Sigma 30mm 1.4 with great results -
http://www.dpreview.com/news/0803/08031801sigma50mm.asp
All in all...I'd happily purchase Sigma if the Nikon version was un-affordable.

  10.
Trying to decide if I should sell my D80, and get a 2nd D90, or wait for something else.
Does Nikon plan on upgrading the D90? Like they have with other cameras, making subtle changes and renaming it D90x...or D90s...would be nice if it kept the same body so the batteries and grips would be the same.
I really like the fact that the D90 self cleans the sensor...
Have a great weekend!
Hi Mark,
I own that lens, and have had good results from it...This picture of flowers was actually shot using a Kenko Uniplus Extension Ring between the Sigma and the camera body...ungainly...but it works nicely.
12.
I am getting an MH-23 charger (from a D40x), and I already have an MH-18a charger (from a D80)....
Can the MH-23 charge the batteries for the D80?....
Thanks,

  13. I have two of the HSM Sigma Lenses...both are of excellent build quality and take clear, sharp pictures...

APO 300mm F2.8 EX DG/HSM and APO MACRO 180mm F3.5 EX DG IF HSM

I would have no qualms substituting these lenses for Nikons versions.

    Cheers,

  14. Alaska could be a once in a lifetime trip...I wouldn't skimp on equipment...10 years from now you'll hate yourself...

When I wanted a fast 300mm with a TC and could'nt afford Nikon, I found a Sigma 300mm APO EX f2.8, and Sigma's matching TC...picture quality is excellent, most of the bird pictures and many of the nature pictures on my online portfolio were taken with this lens...

Of course you'll spend a bit more for this setup ( I spent approx $1,700)...but with APS sized digital you'll have approx a 900mm f5.6...

    Good luck in Alaska
