    Martin,

A very good fashion shot. Not only is the light on the model at the right good because it shows the shape and modeling of her face, but the emphasis of the photo is the clothing — which is the whole point of a fashion shot. I like the way both styles of the dress are shown without competing with each other through the use of one model's functioning as a torso. Very well done.

This is a very good shot of the model. But even better, it is a very good product shot for your client, the jewelry producer. And that's the point, isn't it? The product is well lighted, well defined, and shown to good advantage. There's really little to criticize. (I don't care much for the tattoo, but that's a personal crochet.)

A very nice shot. I'm surprised that a photographer would be allowed this close to the action. Were you part of the fire crew??? The story in the photo is quite clear — even down to the small stream of water sprayed from the hose against the inferno around the firefighter. Very well done. 6/7

    Roland,

Your photo shows that sometimes hard light is better than a softbox or umbrella for making a fashion photo. Very well done. 7/7

    Dan,

A good editorial photo. I can image it being used to illustrate a story on family violence. Nice, practical and intriguing shot. I'm sure it would capture a newspaper reader's curiosity.

    Garrick,

While this photo isn't my style, I like it a lot! In fact, I keep coming back to it again and again. I like the attitude the model projects, and I think it fits with the setting very well.

Technically, the photo has some small problems with blown out highlights and sky, but I don't think they detract at all. This shot would be a perfect CD cover.

    Very good job.

    Richard,

I like this photo a lot. I like the lighting you've used which, though soft, still gives the face modeling and makes it look three dimensional. I especially like the subtle but effective catchlight in the woman's left eye. I think that one detail makes the photo a cut above others. Well done. 6/7

Nice shot. Good color and good composition. If this were my photo, I might crop it a little bit. I'd take it down from the top to get rid the table corner just above and to the right of the girl's head. I'd also crop from the right closer to the girl. The very top edge of the photo (the table top and edge) and the corner of the table cloth are a little distracting and unnecessary.

But, all in all, an excellent capture. 5/7

    Lina,

Excellent shot! Most of the photos on this forum are not fashion. They may represent other genre, but they are not fashion, as fashion is about the clothes — not the model. You picture is direct. The colors are stunning, and there is no doubt about the point of the photo. Very well done. 7/7

    Cristina,

I think you did an outstanding job with Sadness. I like the glow of the light on her hair, as well as the soft modeling of the light from left to right on her face. Technically a sound shot.

Were the photo mine, the only change I would consider is to crop the photo a little more tightly. The background element on the left of the photo should not compete.

All in all, a shot you can be proud to display. 6/7

An excellent shot of a performer at work. When I photograph musicians, I always try to get closeups of the performer's hands or other body parts manipulating the instrument. Here, you have done a good job on showing this musician in command of his bass.

As for the fact that it is not pin sharp. I don't mind that at all. The blur from movement only adds to the impression of drive and power of the music represented by the image. I can almost hear the bass pounding and thumping.

    Very good image. 6/7

High key portraits are not easy to do, yet yours is superb. Not only are the tones good, but the contrast at the woman's eyes and glasses naturally draw the viewer's attention. An excellent example. Congratulations. 6/7
