This is a Violet Dropwing Trithemis Annulata - Male specimen. The female is a golden colour. We have this kind on our small island in Malta and I think it's one of the prettiest dragonflies out there. Have a look at my photo at http://photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=6516011&size=lg

A common grasshopper taking shelter from the rain. This grasshopper

has been motionless on this plant for about two weeks now, and thus

makes a very co-operative model. Thanks for comments and critique.

I love this shot. The light is good and it's an original pose. You also happen to have a marvellous body (and that helps!!)

Fantastic tones and fabulous model. Well framed. My only regret is that it would have benefited from a better bokeh (IMHO). Fantastic nevertheless.

This is a new species of dragonfly in Malta. It's scientific name is

Violet Dropwing Trithemis Annulata and this is a male specimen which

can be clearly determined by the violet thorax (females are gold

colour). Discovered a couple of years ago, it is now breeding in a

few places around the island. Please view larger thanks.

Ok, lately my postings are getting a number of ratings but no comments. I'm not gonna start with the issue of the usual "3" ratings that seem to accompany almost all the submissions.
