    Walter,

this is the most fantastic photograph I think I've ever seen.  Colors, detail, subject, dof, lighting, etc, etc are perfect!  I like to shoot hummers as well, but nothing close to this.  This is inspiring.  Unfortunately, we have few hummers around.  Thanks for sharing this!

    Patsy, Roger, Alf,

thanks for the comments.  I appreciate you stopping by and letting me know your thoughts.

  1. I like this.  Old doors and windows always make me wonder about the history that has gone on behind them.  The b&w treatment is effective.  Not crazy about the frame as it detracts from the shadowy contrasts of the photo.  I would try to crop out or remove the numbers at the bottom as they don't seem to fit with the rest of the photo and are cut in half as well.  Aside from my nits, this is a very nice photo that caught my eye.

This is another process with Pixel Bender. Please view large.

Comments welcome. If you are wonderring about the high ISO and

shutter, I was actuaally trying to catch some hummingbird shots with

their wings as still as possible. However, no hummers came by so I

started shooting other things without changing settings.

  2. Maria,

the lines, lights and shadows here are fantastic.  Very eye catching.  I do have the urge to straighten it or crop so the part of the beam at the top right corner is gone.  Just my personal preference, but the shot is wonderful as is.

    Alf, Roger, Patsy,

thanks for the kind words and advice.  I got a bit fascinated with the Pixel Bender filter and the artistic look and feel it can bring to a photograph.  I'm going to keep it in the tool box, but it can draw one away from the art of photography itself.  But it is lots of fun!! ;-)

Processed with Pixel Bender. Comments welcome.

    Roger,

if you are looking, I decided to enter in flowers category with the note

about pixel benders as opposed to digtal alteration category. Selfish

reason is I believe people go to digital alterations to see higher tech

types of alteration than this. I don't know that many would go there

    looking for flowers.

    Roger,

thank you for the advice.  It's very much appreciated.  I will be checking into it and let you know how it goes.  Thanks again and keep on shootin'.

    Kersti,

lovely lupine.  Such beautiful flowers and you have captured it so well.  The soft pastel coloring is beautiful!
