  1. <p>Weather here has been unkind for picture taking so I pulled some out from the archives.</p><div></div>
  2. Weather has been down to -F region and I have not been out much. The Minolta 35-105 is doing well.<div></div>
  3. <p>Howard, envy your weather. Hosteen, we are in the same fix. Patrick some time ago I told you that my daughter had a half Labrador dog. This is the best picture I have of him which shows him intently watching the ball while my grandson is watching the camera.</p><div></div>
  4. The next two are pictures taken with the lens and no (other than exposure) added.<div></div>
  5. <p>Great stuff Howard. Boxing Day looks like fun and those B&Ws are Sherlock Holmesian. I bought a 35-105 Maxxum lens despite the less than perfect description. It was really low priced ($15) so not much was at risk. I put the lens on the trusty A100 and took took several shots. Focus and shutter worked with well exposed images. Thought I was home free with a good inexpensive lens. Examination of the internal surfaces showed that this was not completely true. Image number 1 (taken with the Nex 3) tries to show the aberration on the back of the first (?) element. Sorry about the reflections.</p><div></div>
  6. <p>Ho Ho everybody. Family is in for Christmas and with the shopping and wrapping no time for shooting. Mukul, I like the second shot. Howard the last panorama is a scene I think a knight of old might have seen.</p><div></div>
  7. <p>Howard, I have the same lens but I think getting one and attaching it to my camera would not get the same results. The pictures of horses in action are interesting. Mukul was there a positive outcome from the demonstration?<br> We had ice on the trees which always catches the eye. </p><div></div>
  8. <p>Checked out turdus migratorius with the Google translator and it is "Thrush migratoria" which is not so bad. Although it causes further speculation...</p>
  9. Good picture of a beautiful girl. Looks like the same colors my granddaughter loves.
  10. <p>Saw this Christmas cactus. A100 35-80 iso 800</p><div></div>
  11. <p>This week we were at a state park where a statue created by James Alexander Thom was on display. It is made from black walnut and it was interesting to me. Mr. Thom is also an author and has had at least two (in America) bestsellers. I was using the DSC HX1 in program mode.</p><div></div>
  12. The display building had a bar which was closed during the event.<div></div>
  13. Howard that lens produces sharp images. I'm jealous. The A7 has well controlled noise at 12,800. Went to an event where my grandson was selling pottery and took some pictures with the A100 and 35-80 Minolta zoom.<div></div>
  14. Agree that the lines look like mechanical position of the film in the tank was non uniform. Was the reel completely dry?
  15. Paul, Found this explanation for HHT With HHT (hand held twilight) mode, the basic idea is to use 6 frames to stack together at high ISO, allowing the shutter speed to be stepped up to within reasonable handheld speeds, while keeping typical high ISO noise down and maintaining detail usually lost to noise reduction. HHT mode will first open the aperture as needed, then will try to maintain a shutter speed around 1/30 or so - raising the ISO as needed to maintain that shutter speed range.
  16. Paul HHT means hand held twilight. The camera fires several shots then averages the data giving lower noise levels. Pretty nifty.
  17. I have been having severe GAS (gear acquisition syndrome) over the Sigma Merrill DP2. Every reviewer says that the DP2 works best at low ISOs so I set the Sony A100 at 100 ISO and took a few raw mode pictures to see what it could do. The results were sharpened slightly, converted to jpg and this is how it looks.<div></div>
  18. Hi all, this was the week of the super moon so I used the DSC HX1 zoomed all the way out to record it. Post up to three favorite (or not favorite) pictures not exceeding 1000 pixels in the longest dimension for us to look at.<div></div>
