<p>Thank you Jim, and I think it is miraculous that he hasn't fallen OUT! Six feet to the ground...He is an agile little fearless guy; but that's just too much, comparing my shot with WES'. I was always very intrigued by his work since I saw Albert Schweizer and, of course, Minamata.</p>

 

<p>Mukul, in 1991 I was in northern India for three months, Varanashi, Rishikesh, Langtang; and all I had was an M2 with 2.8 Summaron and an Elmar-C 90mm. Six rolls of K64 and six of Orwo BW 400. It was all that I needed. Today, I also make more frequent use of my 50mm lenses.</p>

Though I had quite pleasing results taking it literally, I was kind of offended when I saw a contact sheet wth 37 or so shots - one full roll of variations of the famous "Matisse with his doves", and he took his pic(k)... It was called something like "As long as I cast a shadow down here". I didn't try any approach to him out of respect.</p>

<p>It is "Always on" if it's on: Better explained, there is always torque on the gears of the camera.<br>

It is designed like that.</p>

<p>Just digged out mine (SN 13507), inserted fresh batteries, put it on my M6 - and it clunks away,<br /> sounds much like my first series M8!<br /> All these early M-winders are rather rough, and given that there is no possible (electronic) communication between the camera and the motor, it is ALWAYS ON if you switch it on (You can proof this by switching it on unmounted, it will run until batteries are dead) and only the camera gears are stopping it by sheer force. For some reason Leica replaced smooth bronce camera gears with steel.<br /> You can see and feel the impact on the camera because of the trembling advance lever and the shutter release button bouncing back after firing.<br /> Mine has a big fat beauty brass screw with 3/4" tripod thread at the usual eccentric place, rather useless for mounting "big flash guns", but it is there.<br /> All in all, it might be a dog: Simple, loyal, true and able to bite through. Barking a little too loud.</p>

Robin, this looks very good. Some sparkling incident light, very well controlled DR, great color under mixed lighting, clean high ISO. May I ask if you used a Fuji -let's say X- in JPEG mode?</p>
