  1. HiJack, the first one is absolutely stunning... Whacks! Her sincere fresh

beauty, this nothing-to-hide gaze...I wonder: Or your daughter or a girl that

    you don't know at all?!

Underlining the intensity of this portrait is IMHO the chilly public transports

atmosphere, contrasting with this so familiar open human beeing...

absolutely agree with MP/LT more pics/less talk, will upload

    soon,cheers,good light!

  2. Hi there, heavy users of the 110 angle (Cumpleaños feliz, Al!).

Don't know, but somehow turns my M into a P&S, that lens...

Just putting some Gaffer's tape on the frame of the filter, it stays

pretty firm inside the inbuild sunshade, because of its ripples (two

tiny pieces of tape of 0,3x2,0 cm).

Yes, it vignettes! A lot from f6,3 on upwards, because it really has

    depth of field.

But it works just fine when you include the vignette in your

    composition, e.g. like in daguerrotypes.

I made sure that filter and front glass element don't get in touch by

putting a little piece of (smoking) paper in between: It did move

    easily around, no danger.

For the shot with the dissimulated vig. (Zebra)there was no cloud in

blue sky, but hazy overcast. For that reason there is no reason of

using that filter in this situation, I only wanted to show the

possibility of making vig. an inherent element of a composition

(imagine this one with clearly defined clouds).

The other shot clearly shows vig. at f6,3.

The last shows a brouwn beer bootle bottom, not mounted yet in front

of my incredible filter accepting (no complaints) Super light Heliar

(In fact I love it's tinyness) Cheers: Good light!<div>00EAPk-26463584.jpg.a6822b20958099dffe0eb183179e49cf.jpg</div>

  3. Michael, there might be another possibility than the 15times mentioned bat drain: In humid conditions the "potenziometer"(know only the german word) might oxidate, the same way the volume knob in an old amplifier does (here:scratchy sounds).

So, expecially, when you switch it to an ASA you long time/never did

use, it could cause a "crazy" lightmeter (Once I had this fault on an M6 classic)

Solution: Move the ASA setting back and for until it works again,

or track back to India to visit the Dalai Lama in exile, who, once I read in an interview, used to try to repair expensive watches by hitting them on the table. Though, his beautyful Highness admitted LOL that most of them did hand them over to a watchmaker after he had a try...

    Good luck, good light!

  4. Roger, it's taken in C.Pelaio, Barcelona.

John, thank you, and: are you not much more driven to be a "predator"

when you are doing this kind of pictures on assignment?

You know, I'm many times just out there looking for beauty, and therefore I took the picture.

I do as well with radiating loving couples, the difference is, then

I "pay" with a smile of a complicity, understand: If something touches me deeply.

Happy about the evolution of this tread: Knut. Cheers.

  5. What do you think about this one, either in technical and ethical

    terms?

I think there's always a thin line to not to abuse of people you do

not know, especially if they are in more or less precarious life

    situations.

As asking permission is normally altering the expression of a

person, making her/him switch from internal to external attention

(pose), I'd rather prefer to surprise my "victims" by anticipation

    and quick camera action.

However, this time I entered his game: a little donation, a little

    question: May I portrait you?

Fortunately he did not change in his calm, almost meditative aspect,

enjoying a sunray reflected from a windowpane opposite.

Then there's a locked door, he's sitting litteraly on a threshold,

    the "Birdie"-Graffito...

Good light to all of you!<div>00E84M-26416384.jpg.3f0a6115ebff60b0a849d8de88015c9d.jpg</div>

  6. Hi out there,

I'm sorry to have made some of you feel sad...

I'm not trying any Leica-bashing, for me these are the finest 35mm

tools ever, and, (Eiot!), I'm not Frank G., didn't you see I wasn't

    listing the CL?

Since 5 years I'm living in Barcelona, earning and spending my money with photography, and since one year I'm happy visitor of this forum.

Sorry for my popsong-pidgin-but my mothertongue is german.

    (Ben Z!)

-The vinyl of my classic M6 is of much finer structure, don't know about M6TTL

-My M7 was silver, the black paint that came off was inside of the

    bottomplate!

My M7 never was a box of bugs, it never disappointed me, but it just didn't feel right to me.

Nobody tried the manual speeds? The later trigger action of the mechanical times (60, 125) seems to be a common issue on M7s (tried two more with the same feel of too late action)Any comments?

And the DX, I repeat, for me a truly unnessesary feature, on top creating unconviniences( unloading; and if you rate, lets say TRI-X at 250asa,the red dot never will warn you to reset a given incident light compensation of, say,+1, just because it already always blinks for the first reason of setting ASA manually, so you learn to ignore this little helper completly, right?

    Cheers, Good light, Knut

  7. Hi everybody, I?m wondering if it is worth to start a thread,

    it?s just my humble experience.

    In 2003 I bought a slightly used M7 (only 6 month dealer?s warranty)

And I was delightet with its AE, AE lock and VF-readout. No doubt,

knowing the M6-semispot-measurement, you can?t go much wrong. (I?m

    using M?s since almost 20 years:M2,M3,M4-2,M4-P,M6...)

The headline might be wrong, ?cause in fact I never really did get

    married to her...

Here?s why, some of this topics are nothing new to you all, now I

replaced it (M6 classic) happily shooting like always with a hint of

    anticipacion (light-wise) - though missing AE some-times!

    Cheers, good light, Knut

    -slippy, cheap vinyl-covering

-TTL on a Leica = not appriciated

    -lensmount srews loosened

-black paint of bottomplate went of with my fingernail

-DX counterproductive- who shoots with nominal speed?!

(red dot blinking, camera-shaking to take out the roll...)

-Vinyl coming off the body in the corners of the back

    (normal wear-friction)

-manual times (60,125) with a much later trigger action

-shutter dial not sturdy enough, in exchange nonsense

exposure override with a good lock...

-the famous dusty VF, more dim and yellowish than my other M?s,

    despite of his improved :

-VF-coating: not easy as before to get fingerprints wiped off

-battery cap mount not trustworthy, bat. consumption

    -once topplate loosened

-rewind lever came up many times before rewinding entirely

So, that?s my way through owning an M7 for one and a half years.
