I like this one Christopher. It creates an atmosphere very effectively and pleasantly. Thanks for sharing!

Being partial to these kind of manmade landscapes I like this picture. I have been planning to go to an industrialized area for a day of picture taking for ages... good reminder to go and do that. Only thing I noticed as 'not right' is the make of the car. Somehow a Volvo seems out of place in this scene... maybe a rusty Oldsmobile? It's interseting to read the discussions. I think most of us here at Photo.net often feel 'the need to stretch myself a little photographically speaking' as you put it. It's nice to be able to do that and get feedback on the stretching.
Anyway, thanks for sharing this picture!

Well, what can I add to this long list of comments... I to like it of course. Straightforward but very effective composition and absolutely wonderful light and color!

Excellent picture and nice story. I'm with Mike here; I like how he's sitting on the dividing line between light and dark. I also like very much how the trashcan makes the dark more somber. The sunlit chairs for me represent the community he is still part of. Again, excellent in my pov.

Wonderful expression and a fitting title, although I prefer to let the interpretation of emotion to the viewer, thus giving the picture that little bit of extra mystery. Great picture nonetheless! Regards, Nick.

Very refreshing to see this in the usual boring 'Rate photos' excersize. It really popped out at me. Thank you for sharing!

Very nice, wonderful tones and the film grain gives a texture nice texture setting it apart from the often oversmoothened digital work shown on PN.

Funny thing... I'm browsing your photos and for some reason this thumbnail just jumps out at me. Can't really say why other than that it is somehow just exactly spot on right for my senses. And then I read Kent had sort of the same experience with this picture. Funny thing! Anyway, great picture David, and wonderful portfolio, thank you for sharing it!

Hi Paul, good to see you again and thanks for dropping by on! This new effect is rather interesting I must say. I'm not sure if I like it more then I would the original, but it's sure new to me! Thanks.

What a wonderful shot Doug! Beauty on a bleak winters day and everything is so well organized within your frame! Thank you for sharing!

Excellent Leurent, I love the tones in this picture; the beach turning from gray in the foreground to white in the distance makes your family really pop out. Wonderful!
