Last week I had my 5D2+24-105 stolen in London and this week I'm looking at the replacement kit.
A phone call has produced an interesting result
I was in contact with a London retailer who told me that the 24-105/4 L is being discontinued and that they are no longer supplying it as a 5D3+24-105 kit. I suppose that means that the 24-70/4 will become the new kit lens. It's a pity, I liked the extra length.
After cash back on the 5D3 and the 24-70/4, the price will be ~2532GBP, that's only 33GBP more than the 5D3+24-105. The 24-70/4 is at least a generation newer than the 24-105, so should have better optics and stabilisation.

I spent another weekend with my son at an Airsoft venue.
This time it was the Browndown Training Camp at Lee on Solent, a venue that had once been a Royal Marine training facility. All of these photos were taken with a 5D+Sigma 50/1.4 and converted into BW in Photoshop PS4 using the DxO Film Pack 3 and the Ilford Pan F Plus 50 preset.
I've used that preset because I bought 10 rolls of that film to run through my EOS 1v and want to compare results.
<a title="Browndown Training Camp by Pete Meade, on Flickr" href=" src="https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8742/17006447862_6a2d5d5f43_c.jpg" alt="Browndown Training Camp" width="800" height="533" />
<a title="Browndown Training Camp by Pete Meade, on Flickr" href=" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7632/17006448002_6da51d8a97_c.jpg" alt="Browndown Training Camp" width="800" height="533" />
<a title="Browndown Training Camp by Pete Meade, on Flickr" href=" src="https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8741/16385462364_3a110632ac_c.jpg" alt="Browndown Training Camp" width="800" height="533" />

An interesting day in London last weekend; first photographing some models at Somerset House and then heading back I bumped into a confrontation in Piccadilly Circus with a very heavy police presence.
All were shot with a 5D2, the middle shot used a 70-200/2.8 IS and the other two were shot using a 24-105.
<a title="London Instagram Meetup by Pete Meade, on Flickr" href=" src="https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8702/16711869479_746097c8cc_c.jpg" alt="London Instagram Meetup" width="800" height="534" />
<a title="London Instagram Meetup by Pete Meade, on Flickr" href=" src="https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8702/16898079405_2b00cf4172_c.jpg" alt="London Instagram Meetup" width="800" height="534" />
<a title="Piccadilly Circus confrontation by Pete Meade, on Flickr" href=" src="https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8750/16878851626_f3a6c90a68_c.jpg" alt="Piccadilly Circus confrontation" width="800" height="534" />

Hello all.
I revisited some of the locations I photographed last week and came back with some long exposures.
All of these were taken with a 5D2+24-105 using stacked Hoya ND8 and B+W ND1000 filters to give exposures of 30 to 90 seconds at iso-100 and f8. I've gone black and white because the B+W ND1000 filter gives a warm tone that I'm not that fond of and haven't learned to fully colour correct.
<a title="Thames at Maidenhead by Pete Meade, on Flickr" href=" src="https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8738/16821624141_9719d8f688_o.jpg" alt="Thames at Maidenhead" width="800" height="533" />
<a title="Maidenhead Bridge by Pete Meade, on Flickr" href=" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7596/16635138958_a2884555d0_o.jpg" alt="Maidenhead Bridge" width="800" height="533" />
<a title="Skindles by Pete Meade, on Flickr" href=" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7599/16635313470_cd1a9b1c32_o.jpg" alt="Skindles" width="800" height="533" />

Last week I offered three bridges on or around the Thames where I live. This week I'm offering a couple of shots of a foot bridge across the Thames that is used to access a small island. A century ago, the bridge structure was used to mount eel nets.
Both images were taken with a 5D Mk2+24-105 at f8.
<a title="Thames by Pete Meade, on Flickr" href=" src="https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8659/16741951231_41995f8abe_o.jpg" alt="Thames" width="800" height="533" />
<a title="Thames by Pete Meade, on Flickr" href=" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7619/16717239806_8eee407695_o.jpg" alt="Thames" width="800" height="533" />

With my writing hat on, many of the linguistic inaccuracies we find on the site do grate (should we use the term fora instead of forums?), but as long as the communication works, that's what counts and I'm not going to let me blood pressure rise.
If you want to see truly terrible English, try reading Swedish research that has been transposed by the French.
