Alf, I could not agree with you more.  The flowers in focus would have been better and they are a little blown out as well adding to the loss of detail.  Thank you for taking the time to critique my work it is greatly appreciated.

Not a true Macro but I guess this is the best category for this type

of shot. I made a somewhat unplanned visit to a botanical garden this

fall and decided to just put my kit lens on the camera as it was a

little late in the growing season to expect much in the way of flowers

to photograph. I was thinking more in the line of fall foliage so I

left my other lens choices behind. Lesson learned. But hey I think

this came out alright considering. Let me know what you think, good

and bad, please be critical it helps the most. Thanks

This old worn tree stump at a favorite fishing hole caught my eye because it reminded me so much of many of the rocky canyons I see in so many amazing landscape images.  Some day I hope to visit at least a few of those places but for now this will have to suffice. Your critiques and suggestions as to how this image might be improved are always welcome, I have thick skin and enjoy the opportunity to learn. Thanks for looking

  1. I have not been to this historic site here in quite a while and just

decided that I would go there this morning despite the weather. This

location has been the subject of many a photograph and I am certainly

not breaking any new ground here but there is a reason for its

popularity and that is simply that it is "picturesque". The leaves are

just beginning to turn here and I thought that this day may be my best

chance to capture a little of that at this spot.

Thanks for looking and commenting as always.

The image seems to be of the tree as a silhouette, if this is accurate then IMHO you need to have the entire tree in the image. I like the mood set by the image very much.

What sets this shot apart for me is the mystery created because in this portrait we do not have a clear shot at the eyes.  I guess they are right that good portraits always start with the eyes.  Very well done.

  2. Hello Laurent, beautiful sky but the bridge is a little too dark for me. I think it either needs to be a silhouette or needs to have the shadows brightened to show a little detail.

Nice action shot Mike.  I do think you need to straighten the image which I think will give even more emphasis to the body position of your subject.
