Thank you Claude,  All good points.  I could definitely do something about the white "leaf" and clone out the biggest green protrusion.  Too late to change the DOF but that would have helped with the rose as well.  Thanks again.

On this rainy day I noticed this nearly perfect rose just beginning to

open and just needed to take a shot of it. It was surrounded by

several buds not quite ready to open and I could not get a clear shot

without getting them involved so I used them to frame the rose. I

could have cut them off to get them out of the image but since this is

for fun and not money I figured I would try to deal with what nature

dealt. What would you have done? Do they help or hurt?

    Thanks for taking the time.

Have you ever had the feeling that you are being watched as you walked

through the woods? Maybe you are. Thanks for taking the time,

    comments/critiques are always welcome.

John, great job with the whole blue thing you have going on in the image. Well conceived and composed. I especially like that as each blue thing gets smaller it is a lighter shade of blue. IMHO I think I would crop off the bottom right just above where your watermark is on the image, to me it seems better balanced if cut there.

Beautiful waterfall Francisco. I am going to nit pick here a little but I think if you cropped out the very top of the image so that you could not see the top of the falls I think it might make it more interesting. I find the circle/hole in the trees at the top of the falls detracts from the image.
  1. Hello Leslie, I like your image of the Swan boats at the public garden overall but I am not too keen on whatever is causing the OOF bands on the right and left of the image. I do not know if you did that in post or if you were shooting through something. You might add some blur both top and bottom to get more a vignette if that is what you were looking for.

    Trust me ...

Fabrizio, I agree with your comment about the vote click game. I very rarely rate or comment on portraits as this is not an area that I am good at nor do I know enough about it. Therefore I will not rate nor comment on your image specifically but I do wish I got more "critiques" and not so many one or two word comments like "excellent" or poor ratings with no comments. By the way, your image captured my eye enough to get me to look at the photo in your gallery. Nice eyes but her "smile"/mouth looks a little forced and unnatural to me FWIW.

Very nice Ricardo. I think you could improve the image by cropping off some of the bottom of the image as that foreground is uninteresting and does not add to the picture. Nice job.

Very nice image Raf. The desaturated color really works well here and you have captured a wonderful expression. You might just want to remove or darken the hand/arm in the lower left corner.
  2. Hello Phillip, Very nice image overall. The rock really jumps out of the deep blue sky. I do not usually find this the case but in this image I think the whole tree would have been much better then having it cut off, unless there were others there that would not have allowed you to include just that singular tree. I somehow feel that the "round " tree would have made a perfect counterpoint to the jagged rocks.

Karen, I like the other similar image much better. Better background and the ice at the top of this image has too many imperfections in it.

A very interesting and unique image Karen although I liked it more when it first opened on the screen and I could not see the bottom below the lowest flower. You may want to look at cropping it there otherwise to me the stem on the taller flower seems to take up too much of the image for my taste. I think this would also make the image a little more "balanced". Love the colors and light as well as the effect of the ice(?).

Well, I just looked at your portfolio and it is really wonderful.  You certainly do not need any help from me.

Very nice image. Nice DOF and colors. Maybe just crop some of the extra space on the sides so the flower is not quite as centered might improve the shot a little.

Hello Serguei, Overall I like the image just a couple of ideas that I think might improve it. On the upper right and left edge of the bowl there appears to be an outline of more glass from the bowl that I would take out in photoshop. A little more light into the front of the bowl so that you could make out the detail in the lower right berries and maybe a little cream in the bottom of the bowl. I am certainly no expert in this type of photography but it just needs something to make it pop off the screen.

Hello Mahmudur, A very dramatic image that looks great in this high key approach. The tower however is leaning to the right and needs to be straightened a little for me.

Wonderful image Hasan. I Love the contrast of colors as well as the composition. If you could reclaim a little of the blown highlight on the top of the leave it would be perfect for my eye.

Hello John, Overall a very nice image, nice smile on the young lady and a good black and white conversion. I find the top of her hat to be overly bright however causing my eye to be drawn to it rather than the young ladies face, maybe you could tone it down a little in pp. I think it would make a stronger image.
