  1. Thank you for your insight Hoang. The lighting was a mere lightbulb at shoulder height to the left of the model. The pose is reminiscent of an antique abstract statue. The only considerations in taking the photo was taking the photo directly on film without pre or post digital magic, keeping it dark and abstract.
  2. Yes Viktor, I suppose you are right in your comment of this uneventful view....perhaps part of the undramatic greyness can be attributed to my inept scanning skills.

Arthur...I'll certainly post more work in my portfolio in the near future. And yes if the Gleick book is academic then the Laurence Gonzales book you refer to is pragmatic..filled with everyday practicalities of good use.

  3. You give kind critique and I'm glad you like some of my work. The tech advice is also welcome and will always be considered. You're welcome to use my e-mail provided by photo.net for any off-board discussion or presentation of your work. Sincerely, Robie K.
  4. The original framed work (50x40cm) is actually slightly more cropped along the left vertical...no dark area at all to the left of the arm.

Personally I like the original alot and I find that the dark middle part, and limbs at different levels give a true 3-d feel to the photo...

  5. A very good point Kristina and I certainly hope I have the opportunity to photograph this model in the future. As for any aestethics I have strived for a symmetrical closely cropped (no pun intended) view of jewelry in places unseen by most, but certainly felt by the bearer.
  6. Thanks Arif, I understand what you mean but this captured moment is more about the model having a cup of morning coffee...not so much about the cup itself, which on the other hand is very instrumental in having a cup of coffee.
  7. Yes, correct conclusions...the focus is on the tattoo and the wedding ring.

The cropping is certainly open for debate...personally I like it like this, shallow dof and all. Thank you for your kind and constructive comment.
