I took this photo under an harsh sun so I have put a couple of hours in PS. I
used multi-raw layers to get the details in the blacks and details in the
whites and worked with masks (5). The photo is quite good in a 12x18
inches format.
Thanks for your comments and ratings.

you have captured the essence of the moment. Great dof.
I also like a lot your Ballet photo serie. Nice sepia treatement with good contrast.

Awesome moment, what a grace to have captured it.

I like the colored one better. I rarely do or like BW better. It seems like I realy need a special light direction to find the BW interesting.
Here the color and the classical 3 layout (front-middle-back) is better serve with colour (in my humble opinion). The vignetting and sky add something to the photo.
Great work on your latest flower. Your technique as improved with the years. Always inspiring.

Took this photo under a rising moon with à manualy set cold wb. I did some
post treatement on the rock getting a "hoter" wb on it.
I wanted to create something abstract and smooth.
Tx for your comments.

VEry good lightning balance. You got your Sky clean, the water and the foreground. Great job. And very nice colors. Almost surreal with the weird rocks and the way this photo is divided in three parts.
I like it.

I really like the brown-redish monochromatic look of this picture.
Great work on the light.

Very good skin tones from chin (nice zones in the cheeks area too) to shoulders.
Nice body direction. Gives a simple line in the picture.
Great work.

I might not be finish with this one. I still wonder about the puddle of
water. It was a wedding under the rain and could not take the usual
picture in front of it. So I came back at night, it was cold and very windy.
That what explains the sky. Therefore, I tend to keep the water there
because it shows how the day was. But it is quite small. I could work it
in PS make it large and even put a fake reflection of the church.
I also wonder about the flare, but it give a direction in the middle of the
picture. The lights too ... hummmm....
But then again, I already put numerous minutes working the contrast and
the sky so ... ?

What a sky!!! Nice reflexions to. Did just great with the exposure on the black silhouette.

Tremendous job on the lighting of your background. The fact that it is not equal (homogène) is what bring it out. It almost look like a sky. The fact that you have all the b/w tonal range is also a force.
The model is a little bit dark but it make the little light contrast in her face come out. So it must be just fine like that.
Great job,

I didn't took the time to read all the interpretations of the others and maybe there is one of yours.
I just wanted to tell you that It works very well for me. I've been in the running thing for many years now and I know an old guy running so it rings a bell to me.
I find him very funny and a little bit awkward with is sports gear and his non-sport-body-position.
A lot of elders trying to stay young in there. Defing death or is that the buisnessman that made them beleive they could live for ever ? ;)
If the birds in the sky would have been vaultures then ... hummmm ....
Tremendous amount of work in there Pierre.
Thanks for sharing and letting us think,

Yes Jeff, the 138 road stop 40 minutes from there. There is a mythic road sign "end of 138", it is like 1200 km from Montreal. Went to take a picture of it but they are working to move the road farther (with the Inuits claiming to stop). The sign wasent there anymore, but took a picture of 138 end in 18 km" !!!
I have put a facebook page to show some pictures of this "photo-trip" but it is in french. Maybe facebook is doing an autonatic translation. I hope to put a blog with the stories behind the pictures, first in french and then in English.
Not easy to work on that with the kids arround ;)
Tx for your comments and time, I'll check your portfolio later on and try to help back with constructive comments.
cheers,

What else is there to say. Well the quality (sharpeness, light and the faces of the guys) of the photo is very good.

Very nice scene. I guess there is a pano assemblage here. Great job. I would put some more work on the contour of the mountains thought. There are some bad vibration there. Maybe I would also try to lower the highlights in the sky (you have great contrast there and it is powerfull). I'm sure you can work that if you still have the will ;)
Overall, very impressive.

many tx for your time.

Nice colors in particular the greens in the center of the flowers. It harmonize with the dominant green in the overall picture. You also got an interesting background with the upper left thing there. That is what caught my eye first, well just after the flower.
great job,

Tx for your precious advise and precision on what you think works in this photo.
It's not the opinion of my girl friend, so I was starting to wonder. She dont like when I take an exposure for the sky and exposure for the foreground and mix-them up to optimise the contrast. She like more "dull and natural" photos . !!!
For my part I like to push a little bit the dynamics because the cameras are getting less details in the black and the white that the human eye can get.
So I like to push but I also dont like the photos that goes beyon a certain point. Occasionally it is easy to determine this point. For example, contours or edges that gives off light. Colors that are too much saturated or look acquard (Radu critique one of my picture in that way, and I thank him for its honnesty). But sometimes they are grey zones, it might become a question of taste.
Just a changing opinion ;)
Sorry if I dont critique as much as I use to. I have 2 kids now (1 and 4 y/old) and it's hard only to have time to take and photoshop some photo.
Again, many tx for your time. It's always appreciated.

Wondering if it's to dark. Was the effects overdone ?
