Nice series you have going here. I think this series, IMO, works better in B/W as it not only allows you to present some great tonal ranges, but b/w brings out the grit and grime of these men's daily lives more than any color can. Not to say you are doing the same thing, but I suggest you look at some of Orhan Kose's work here at pnet. I love this particular image best of the series. The man entering the frame brings with him a certain light and urgency. I'm shocked you had enough light to allow you to use a depth of focus that is enough to render everyone in the picture sharply.

I know I'm a day late and a dollar short, but I rather like the original image you included in this thread. I guess it's all a matter of personal taste, but I like to include as much of the natural environment of the flowers I post. The colors in that image were exquisite, and unlike Tony's extreme crop, the title still fits the image in the original version.

Great rendition, evocative of the era. As someone who loathes war, I take a very different view of the invasion of Normandy. The very famous American writer James Jones wrote a book, World War II, that took a soldier's approach to that meat grinder of a war, and one comes across with the impression that Churchill, Eisenhower, and all the planners and conductors of that war were all psychopaths who cared more about the machines and planes in their "chess game", than the lives of those hapless souls scattered there on the beach. The great Frank Capra also captured a lot of gruesome images of soldiers who drowned in the thousands trying to storm that fortified beach. This image of a lone guy in a plane who could drop a bomb by pushing a button and end the lives of all those young men staring helplessly at him is more chilling to me than inspirational.
