A lone cactus catches sunrise light amidst the rocky landscape of California's Alabama Hills, as the alpenglow illuminates Lone Pine peak in the distance.

Hiking the Virgin River Narrows from top to bottom was like a hike through a neverending garden of tranquility.

A stream of aquamarine glacial runoff leads to one of the most photogenic mountains I have ever seen, photographed here in soft mid morning light. This scene melted into a pile of rubble in the summer sun just the next day.

I hiked out to this area about 4 miles from camp in search of a lake, but found this stream of snowmelt to be quite nice. Flowers aren’t as common at this altitude, but here a small grove adds some added splashes of color to a colorful sunset.

Probably the most unique cloud formation I have ever seen, I watched as it formed over some 12,000 foot peaks in the eastern Alaska range midday.

A stream of snow melt formed a nice S-curve, and as the sun set the clouds parted and the mountain revealed herself.

    Mezzanotte

Wildflowers on a 5000 ft. ridge across this glaciated valley in the wilderness of the eastern Alaska range. I photographed this scene at sunset (around midnight), then hiked back to camp to be ready for a 4 am sunrise!

    Moose Tracks

Fresh moose tracks lead to a small grove of trees dressed in rime ice, as the moon sets and temperatures reach -20F.

    Majesty

Reflected light on the icy banks of a frozen river lead to King’s Peak in the distance, complemented by a spectrum of pastel hues in the soft sunrise light.
