1.
Take out the meter and get an A/IIIs.

 2.
Martin, I believe to be the cell. This BL has stayed on Don's desk for months, and came back as "cell inactive" or something along that line.

Since Don worked on it, I assume that he must've checked the cell AND its circuitry...so, when he said the problem lies with the cell, I have no reason to doubt this.

I just had another chat with him, and the camera goes back to DAG, for a second time. Hopefully, he'll figure out something. Pity that such needed parts are no longer available for these cameras.

Having said that, do you happen to know if the difference between BL cell is significantly different than the one in C? I seem to recall a "blue silicone" thing related to Minox cameras; is this blue thingy the cells installed in LX/CLX/TLX? Or am I mistaken here?

Anyways, the main question here is if a C cell would be fit to install in a BL camera.

I believe Gerald could clear this one up, if he's still a member of our forum. Gerald?

 5.
I am looking to swap a C or an LX light cell into my old BL camera. As far as I know, the light cell is the same, CdS. However, there may be problems with the current voltage, as C and LX meters are triggered by 5.6, whereas the BL's meter is jogged up by the Wein cell, which is not 5.6 obviously.

Also, a professional who changed the cell to my Weston Master (and did a marvelous job too) is willing to try and do the same thing (change the selenium cell) to a couple of extremely lazy Minox meters. Has anyone tried doing this? Are there any vital facts of which me or the repairman should be aware?

Do I have a case here, or should I just give up? Is there really no options for one stuck with a blind BL?

Alternatively, I would welcome any suggestion. Thank you!

Regards,

JT

 6.
Guys, the 8x11 brass cassettes can be pre-ordered as we speak. Please inquire via pm or visit http://www.juliantanase.com

 7.
Thank you to all who pm'd me. Matter now sorted out, Edixa 16 is under way to Germany.
Regards,
JT

 8.
The Edixa I own needs to go to be seen by a specialist; shutter speeds, a good CLA, etc.

Anyone know or can recommend a good repairman for this camera? Thank you in advance!

Regards,

JT
www.minoxit.com

 9.
Hobbies, I knew Andrew had some great skills with meter cells. I was trying to find his address, but it seems I lost it. I know he is someone in the vicinity of Andover, right?

Would you care to send me his contact details, by email? Thank you, I really appreciate it!

regards,

JT

 10.
Indeed this is what I am going to do with it. Some of my cameras are now at DAG, and, alas, Don is out of BL CdS spares.

But...it's a pity we cannot replace the cells in these cameras. Real gems they were and using them cameras without built-in meter (as they were intended to be used) seems like downgrading somehow.

Thanks for your kind input, Martin!

Regards,
JT

 11.
A BL I own overexposes too much. A meter issue of course, and I would liek to ask here if any member knows anyone who can replace the cell or a way to repair.

Thanks in advance!

JT
MINOXIT

 12.
Guys, final review is here. Let me know your thoughts.

Regs,
JT

 13.
Martin, I have the cassette in a Minox camera as we speak. After finishing the film and processing it, I thought of doing this:
- put the cassette in the freezer for, say, a couple of hours and after that try it in a Minox camera
- put the cassette in open air on a piece of alu foil. Seeing we have some 33*C outside these days, this will do the trick quite nicely. After a couple of hours I'll insert the cassette into a Minox camera (a non-working one).

Both temps are going to be recorded by a calibrated thermometer. Results will be reported.

 14.
Jimmy Li's brass cassette is currently under trial in one of my cameras. You may read the first half of the review for this item here.

Will have a second and final part of the review made after film process and scan.

Best,

JT
MINOXIT

 15.
Looks like a variant of an Acmel model M...Gerald's own site (link).

John, on Evilbay...why? Yours?

 16.
Never used one, and know nothing about it. Anyone?

 17.
You may want to dig into this group archive here. Good luck!

Regards,
JT
minoxit.com

 19.
Thank you for your kind words, Ben, much appreciated! Ilford Delta is a good choice, you can't go wrong with this film. Tmax is also a very good film, I love the texture and shadows.
Are you going to process these yourself, or send away?

 20.
Congratulations Ben! Start using it and do share results. Have fun!
Regards,
JT
www.minoxit.com
