1. I have had very good results in the past using Rollei ATP 1.1 (25 asa) and Adox CM20 . Very fine grain, excellent tones and gradations. I used to process Rollei in its own Rollei dev and the Adox CMS 20 in Atomal ( I have tried initially Adotech with poor results). The only thing which may be a deterrent to use Rollei ATP is that the regular tap water develops some iron oxide on negatives. Ilford Pan F50 also gets good results. 2. Tried it several years ago, didn't liked it. Murky and annoyingly excessive curly negs, probably something I've messed up. Haven't tried it since. I've a couple of rolls sitting in my fridge, I guess I'll give it another go, this film continues to get good reviews. What dev do you envisage for this film anyway?
 3. The photographs in the exhibition were sent, most of them anyways, as Jpeg (or other format) files to the organizers. I, for example, have sent these as a pack of Jpegs by email, straight to the organizers desk in Riga. They took care of printing, and framing. It was so much simpler this way, of course. Mind you, this event was planned with some months prior to the actual wall mounting. I was contacted by Riga people I believe in June last year, and so it took months for the preparations of the museum exhibition. One thing I regret, could not attend in person, due to business commitments during that period. No matter, there is always another chance, I guess...
 4. One can always go with a Minox cell adapter. Some more information, various batteries and adapters needed on various Minox cameras and accessories, here on my website: Minox batteries | julian tanase Main difference between a regular PX27 photo battery (I keep using this indication for the Minox battery, although it has changed in the last 10 yrs or so, various manufacturers have it in stock under different names and codes, such as Varta V27PX) and adapters is the output: whereas the factory batteries give 5.6V, the adapter gives 6V. Noticeable in real life? Some swear by it, some do not. I have had my doubts in the past, and still have them. Old PX27 were laced with mercury, which entered the big no-no land long time ago. Silver oxide are the norm nowadays, basically 4x LR batteries stacked in a plastic sleeve. They give you a 6V output. On the other hand, there are adapters where a small basic resistance circuitry is built in, and thus giving a 5.6V, from a similar 4 cell stack. I use a few of these myself. All I have seen in the last years were batteries coming from Varta, Duracell, Kodak. And obviously, the ubiquitous S27PX, the silver-oxide ones. Try German version of Evilbay, the Varta and the likes do pop up every now and then. Of course, there is always the danger of buying a dud, old and half empty, so caveat. Hope it helps :)
 5. Good start of a year, I would say... Exhibition «The World with Minox. Riga» at the Latvian Museum of Photography ← FOLD
 6. Hold on a sec...if you push the filter bar towards the lens, do you see a filter coming out and sliding onto the lens? what color is that filter? Also, check if the UV permanent filter is in front of the lens. That filter is fixed and it can be easily discerned if you look close to the lens. It's basically a piece of faintly tinted glass, glued in front of the lens, also meant as some sort of protection. If you see just the lens without that glass in front of them, that means you have found the UV filter, fallen by accident. In this case, what Martin said, send it to DAG Camera (Don Goldberg).
 7. Scroll down the page, you'll see the 8x11 flash reference: Electronic Flash Introduction - Minox 8x11 Accessories Alternatively, see here on my blog: 8×11 flash & adapter | julian tanase There are plenty of other information on this flash and data. Hope this helps! Regards, JT www.minoxit.com
 8. MPL being Minox Processing Lab? Is this the same with the one still existing in Germany? Would I be right in assuming that the cardboard precedes plastic or metal?
 9. When were these introduced, if anyone can help? Martin? I am trying to ascertain (roughly) when were taken the slides in these frames, who produced these, etc. I know the photographs were shot around end of 40's. Thanks!
 10. I very much doubt that BMC is re-felting all the empties they get, perhaps only those with the felt / light trap damaged or missing altogether, which should be very rare. If I correctly recall, they get empties used just once, and in this case the cartridges should be almost new. Anyways, this is what would the norm be. The cutting is done probably by means of a machine, if not by hand. Proper film cutter put to use, a skilled technician could cut and package a good number of negatives in a shortest of time. It would be a matter of cutting at a certain length, in a controlled environment, dust-free, static, light conditions, etc. However, this would not necessarily ensure the same quality of negatives every time. That is why I believe they employed the use of automatic cut and pack machine of some sort. Such machines do exist, and probably scarce now as hen teeth, but it can be done of course. I have in my collection a piece of such machinery, which was obviously used to cut 9.2mm strips out of 35mm stock. No idea regarding its provenience or type of machine, but this contraption is clearly a piece of a larger machine, for automatic film cutting. It still cuts negatives of course, but one has to roll the knob manually.
 11. During the last 20 yrs, film slitter wise, have used some good models, and then I have used some not so good ones. Zipslit (if anyone remembers it) was a marvel. Doyle's one was a disaster. Now, having said that, all things considered, at the end of the day Jimmy's contraption wins hands down. Why? Because I honestly believe it solves more problems than it creates, at least for me. Expensive? I guess it could be, but then again it does not bother me. Without any modesty, this slitter (first model anyways) was designed by Jimmy, while I was discussing how's and why's of this concept with him, and acting as an adviser of sorts. And I know his main and foremost concern was to have a machine way better than anything existent on the market. And I firmly believe he has done it. More on this slitter, and Jimmy's other products here, on my own blog. Me and Jimmy, discussing Minox stuff, among other things :)
 12. I'd very much like to have this valid also for Minox meters or B/BL camera meters. Alas, such metering units only works if button pressed...:-((((((((. With a multitude of bad meters around for sale, one has no alternative but trust (or not) the seller, OR buy from a fellow Minox user or from a reputable seller/collector. This I guess would present some sort of guarantee... Btw, Martin...any of your Minox meters still running good? I have like 6, but only a couple worth of a decent, not far off reading. I haven't acquired none in the last couple of years, although I stopped using a meter long time ago for Minox or other cameras.
 13. Looks good, but it also has some unresponsive scripts I guess, or something. It keeps signing me off, and some layers are also playing stupid at times. I guess it's still work in progress... Oh well, we all have to face the future and changes it brings, at one point.
 14.
Happened to me as well, Martin. I have purchased a Leica IIf, good camera (a user) from a guy with like 200 feeds, on Ebay Germany. Months later, that Leica never showed up in former listings.
When looked up the item in my Purchase history,it returned no transaction ever for that item, completely gone. The user and his shop gone.
Emailed Ebay, got a ticket, never an answer from them. The transaction appears in my Paypal payments, though.
I did not bothered to investigate any further, seen no need for it.
System glitch? Regular policy? Who can tell...

 15.
Both excellent cameras, at least visually. Never operated one of these AX's...lens I presume to be Minox, right? LX internals on a small chassis?
How do they perform in actually taking pictures, I wonder.

 16.
China, 0 feedback...it remains to be seen if the items really exists and if they actually arrive to the buyer as advertised and sold :-))).
You had me envious, for a second, Martin...:-).

 17.
Do share, Jim. Sounds interesting, I'd like to have a look at your contraption.
Also, what Martin said.

 18.
Which lens is better, or are they the same ?

 19.
Murray, I would not worry too much at this stage. As Martin said: more than probable the battery died or is below the useful energy curve. Try a new battery, check this article here: https://minoxit.com/category/minox-batteries/ .

If in the US, best buy from Don Goldberg, as Martin said. If in Europe mainland or the UK, try http://www.smallbattery.company.org.uk/ , free shipping within the UK.

If this does not clear the issue, you may well send the camera to Don, www.dagcamera.com. He's doing wonders for us Minoxers.

All the best to you!

JT
