  1. Thank you John, I had an old bottle of Pec-12 and just got a new bottle of it. I'll try that and get back to this thread.
  2. I am using PrintFile Archival Preserver sleeves. Maybe they're not archival. Thanks.
  3. Other people have complained about that printer. What is up with the Epson P800 printer???
  4. That is a nice photo! You have both a wind machine and fog machine? Wow! Foggy wind or windy fog? Nothing new from me this week, so one from June; summer clouds over Lake Michigan. 80D with 24-105.
  5. With the Blues Brothers on stage!
  6. Speaking of Spain....traveling there was among my favorites.
  7. I love night vistas! Aren't you on the wrong coast?
  8. My Canon SL1 and 270 EX ll were nearby, so I checked. In aperture mode, it sets the ISO to 400 if Auto ISO is set, but the shutter speed depends on ambient lighting. Maybe there's a custom function that controls that.
  9. Nice flower/bee photos. I hope the chemo works for you.
  10. Thank you. I did use an off-camera flash to the left of the spider and took many shots. A bunch of those showed reflection in the window of the cord connecting the flash to the camera hot shoe, so good thing I took a bunch so I could choose and pick. I wonder what people thought if they saw that idiot in the window with the flash going off repeatedly?
  11. Whatever this stuff is, it's only appearing on the image part of the emulsion and seems to work its way in from the borders. I have an old, opened bottle of Kodak film cleaner which didn't seem to help at all, but maybe I wasn't using it right. It's pretty darn old, though. Now I decide if I want to clean all my old negatives!
  12. There's nothing wrong with a spider through a window!
  13. I sent these photos to the university archivist who forwarded them to a photo archivist who recommended sending or taking them to a private conservator! Well, I know these aren't worth millions, so I did what she suggested optionally, which was to try PEC-12 which was recommended by the photo archivist. That does a great job getting that stuff off. I'm not sure if it does anything to the emulsion, but I'll rescan a few to see how they look. There doesn't appear to be anything in the plastic photo sleeves, but I'd imagine I should put these in new sleeves.
  14. Many of my old negatives are getting this effect on the edges of the film on the emulsion side. If I rub it, it smudges. I was going to donate some negatives to the university I used to work for. They probably don't want them if they're covered in mold, unless they have some sort of cleaning procedure. It's a real small operation, though. Two people, I think. The second photo is the full image.
