    Bow Lake 2

          5

Please let me know what you think. This is a photo I have touched up

in an order to improve it. Was this an improvement over the other

one in my portfolio? In an effort to continually improve my

photography I welcome any comments. Thank You

  1. Marc, the reason why there is a green tint in the water is because it is a lake filled with water that has run off the glacier. It is a extremely green lake, thus the name Emerald Lake. There is another Emerald Lake photo in my gallery that may show the color of the water a bit better. Ander, to answer your question, the photograph was taken in the late evening just before sunset. I utilized a hard-edged 3-stop Singh-Ray grad positioned diagionally along the top of the trees. This was too much and caused the reflection in the water to be too light. I then darkened the water in PS by utilizing the neutral density grad filter from the nik toolset. I also used the fred and miranda velvia automated task to enrich the colors slightly, only because canon raw colors are a bit muted. I hope that answers your question.
  2. Everybody, thank you for your comments and critiques. I always enjoy hearing what can be done to improve things. Chris, to answer your question, unfortunately, no, I live in Nebraska. Not quite the same landscape.
  3. Peter, thanks for the critique. Whenever someone makes a suggestion I work with the photograph to see if I like what changes it would make. Tonight, I am going to saturate the colors a little bit and see what happens.
  4. Thanks to those who have given me feedback. Others, please give me feedback on this photograph. I noticed a few lower rates and I want to know what I can do to improve this. I want to get better. Is it too dark, too light, not composed strongly, etc.?

Very cute. It may be a harsh with the flash, you may want to try bringing the light level down a bit. Otherwise, I like the expression.
