It may look like I'm just spouting out and adding nothing useful here but. I'm not sure enough about this shot to say whether I really like it or not. It's Istanbul, so as a fan of the place I'm bound in a way to say 'yeah, great shot'. So here goes.
Why I like it.
It shows the city from a slightly different angle. You've got, and please correct me if I'm wrong here, the Blue Mosque, Aya Sofya and the Fire Tower of Beyazid. You see plenty of shots of those, yes, but not from an angle quite like this.
You've got a number of different 'planes of view'. You've got an interesting foreground with the sea, then you have the dockside standing out in silohette (apologies for spelling), then a very faint levelof the cityscape below the horizon and finally the horizon itself. I do like the colour of the sky. Great timing of the shot so at what hour was it taken? It me it looks like very early or quite late.
Now let's try to think of the cons and how could the shot be improved. You could say that the details of the shot are a bit too dark it would be nice to have some finer detail in, for example the area of the city below the horizon. But I don't think that's enough to mark it down. Maybe not quite so much of the sky.
So on the whole I'd say I can see more pro's than con's. Therefore, good shot.

Yes. Try to experiment with different angles. A much better shot which captures a bit of character of the cat.
Lovely and I think that this stands out more than the oher shot. Wonderful.

Done with a digital camera on narrow aperture and timed exposure, how
could I improve this?
Thanks

May seem a bit insulting to you but try taking the photo in portrait rather than the landscape you have used. As for the position within the photo try moving the camera so that the subject, she in this case, moves position around the photo. So that instead of being dead centre, she is more to the right or to the left of the shot. See which you prefer to do.
Otherswise, good shot, interesting background though I agree with the comment above.

Hello
A horse crossing the River Ewenny near Ogmaore Castle in South Wales.
How could I have improved this.
Thanks,
Anthony

Any comments on this would be welcome. I took this in a pub the other
night and used the camera's fill in flash for lighting.
Any comments on this and the other photos in this folder are more than
welcome.
Thanks,
Anthony

Thanks for the comments. My camera was set to automatic and the inbuilt flash fire, hence the odd shadow underneath the table. Thank you

That is nothing to apologise over, because we all started somewhere. The only detraction for me is the horizon is on the slant, other than that I really like this. Good foreground, decent mid distance subject. I like the haze around the rock.

It doesn't seem quite right. Is it my imagination or is the horizon sloping?

I like the humour in that. You said that it is not up to pn standards, but I think the combination of the fish and the sign makes this a very good shot.
