1.
You might also consider a manual focus 50mm.

I have a 50 1.4 AF-S, but what I really like using with my D700 is a MF 50 1.8. The version I have is the one made in the early 80's exclusively for the Japanese market, the Nikkor 50mm F1.8S. The 50 1.4 AF-S is a fine lens, but so is the MF Nikkor 50mm F1.8S and it is way smaller. It's very easy to focus on the D700.

  2.
Sover,
If the DP-3/12 ring resistors wear out "quickly", shouldn't they ALL be worn out by now? After all, the youngest of these prisms is almost 30 years old. I have a DP-12 that works fine. Why do some wear out and some don't? Is it related to the amount of use, 'luck' or some other factor?

  3.
Thanks, Keith!
That's exactly the version I am looking for. I owned one back in the day that I bought new just before Auto Indexing was introduced. Later, had it AI'd by Nikon. I have some great photos made with it.
When I owned one before, I didn't use the 35mm focal length much. That's why I want something inexpensive.

  4.
Has anyone tried a Nikon MF 35mm 2.8 AI or AIS lens with a Nikon D700?

The reviews of the 35mm 2.8 are mixed. Any opinions from users ?

There were several variants of the 35mm 2.8. I'm interested in hearing observations regarding the image quality differences, if any. Would one version be better than the others?

  5.
"Nikkor 24/2.8 seems to be a little mysterious lens. Bjorn's rating tells that it performed great on films, poorer on DX size digital, but on FX digital, it performs even slightly better than on film."

I can attest that my 24mm 2.8 AIS works very well with my D700

00Sww6-121375584.JPG.4ca5075c46c7fa3b1c3a5bc67cfb3dce.JPG

  6.
I've noticed on the auction site recently 3 or 4 Hasselblad 100m CF lenses described as having a small nick on

the rear glass. In fact, I own a 100mm CF myself like this. My theory is that when someone used

the wrong tool to recock the shutter, it slipped off and damaged the glass

    .
Is there something about the design of the 100 CF that makes it more susceptible to this sort of damage?

  7. I might be wrong, but I remember reading that some of the very last F3's, those with serial numbers above 2 million, were sold with the DE-2 finder.
