Great shot, beautiful. The grass and not including any other complete birds really help make the subject stand out. Great job.

Everyone, thanks for the comments. Some good ideas, I think, about the background and exposure possibilities. As to the comment about some of the snow looking like it may have been moving, it was moving just moments before this shot was taken. The slope had just avalanched but it had stopped when I took this photo. I was a part of this party and moved out to take this photo.

Very nice. I like how well you captured the snow. I take a lot of shots in the snow and it seems to always be a struggle to get it to look the right white. You nailed it here and the morning light on the snow and mountains is great. The mountains really stand out against the dark sky.

Oleg, thanks for the comment. I just looked at the image on a different monitor than the one I worked the image on and the colors do look a bit off. Maybe I'll have to calibrate my monitor.

Something bad happened to this image during the upload. The file size has been reduced and the image quality has suffered greatly. The image I uploaded had none of the compression issues displayed here. Anyone see this sort of thing happen before?

Great colors and lighting. The darkness in the lower left corner is the only problem here. I don't have a problem with the fisheye effect and instead think that it adds to this image. I can almost imagine myself lying on the ground where this photo was taken looking up at the trees. I think the view might look a little like this photograph. The effect, in my opinion, isn't overdone here and this is a good situation in which to use such an effect.
