Great eye Kurt. As many have said, this is indeed a wonderful simple and effective comp in what looks to be quite a busy setting. I think agree with Leigh that just a whisker more at the top is slightly preferable.

Maybe a grad-ND filter would have been worth a try to lift foreground details (unless of course you wanted a dark foreground)?

Good work Steve. The light in the lowest third of the shot looks great and is the feature that draws me in. Although those clouds are nice, I think balance would be improved if you cropped about 30% of the sky and perhaps lightened it a bit. If more of the image is available on the right, I'd consider including a little more there to place the right boat closer to a 1/3 line and emphasize it over the other one.

Stunning Andrew, and great light control. The foreground rock works very nicely imo too. I wonder if a little more space between the main rock and the one higher and to the right would have been worth a try?

A beautful and unusual palette Ian. I particularly like the way the foreground lichen colour lifts the subtle green tones elsewhere. I can see why you would have had to clone out a harsh white spot on this occasion, the soft mood you have here would have been considerably disrupted. Although it might have been nice to see a little more water, I can't see how you could have done so without substantially upsetting the composition.

Amazing Mark, a terrific addition to your collection. The only nit I can come up with is slight softness in the leg on the left. I wonder if a little additional sharpening could work there?
-
Atle, yes I think I agree with your crop suggestion and would probably eliminate between a third and half of the sky. Maybe also consider enhancing the contrast in the mountains a bit? (although it may just be the LCD monitor I'm viewing this with at the moment...)

Eric, this is a fabulous light display that for me is a subject in itself on that fluid landscape filled with cracks. I like this a lot - but not simply because it has "a bit of colour", it's very much how that colour is rendered by the interplay of the light and form (an orange filter for example wouldn't have any of the power this has). I wonder if pulling down the midtones and/or increasing contrast in the sky would better compliment the drama below and make for an even stronger whole.

This looks great Dave. I only have minor a few suggestions: in addition to the minimal trim from the bottom and maybe a whisker more separation between the peak reflection and the rock in the pool, perhaps a little more brightness/saturation in the blue parts of the sky to compliment the golden sunset tones is worth a try. I'm amused to see this photogenic location is called Canon Beach.

Wonderfully painterly Ceri. My only suggestion for improvement would be to try toning down the bright spot of sky in the top left.

Hi Vince. Definately the colour shot for me, the blue is moodier and compliments your more usual colour schemes nicely. While I appreciate the sentiment of shooting completely au-naturel, I think this would one have been better balanced had you used a grad-ND to put more definition in those foreground rocks. As it stands, the lower quarter of the shot lets it down imho.

I like this one too. I agree the broken ice is the focus for me too - I suspect a shot with more of the lower part of the trees (down to the ground) and then turning the image upside-down would have been worth a try.

Beautiful shot Henri. I like the blue green palette a lot. At first I thought the sun (presumably) needed to be toned down a little, but I expect with a darker background rather than the white on my monitor it looks fine as is.

Great to see a new post from you Tom. A well balanced and inviting composition with beautiful soft tones and lots of detail for the eye to explore from this magical place. I wonder if a few minor curve adjustments to lift levels a little in the foreground and right third of the frame would be worth a try? Hope to see more of your posts. Regards.
(..later) Hmm, on another monitor the foreground details look just fine.

Probably the most stunning light in your collection here. The rock didn't bother me until I read Doug's comment. Maybe a little shadow dodging to bring it more in line with the rest of the image is worth a try.

I love the combination of the alien and serene in your 'space' works Eric. A fine example of your skill as an original interpreter of the landscape. Excellent work.

Having only just found your work, it's certainly made for a very enjoyable start to my day. You have some wonderful and very original work, much of which in my opinion is highly underrated. This is one of my favourites I've seen so far; the ripples combined with that cloud formation lift it well above the average lake reflection.

This great light is what ocean photogrpahy is all about for me Steve. Splendid execution. I agree with Vince that a cresting wave might have been nice, as might some more of the aqua rather than foaming white showing in the water, but they would be variations on a theme; this rendition is very nice as is too.
-
My favourite to date in your ongoing series Jen. Can't see anything I'd change. Did you take any at low ISO & slow shutter speeds to see how some wave motion-blur might look?
-
Good comp with those clouds matching the rocks nicely Steven. I think this could look even better in lower light though. If the conditions aren't too wild, to avoid running up and down between waves in conditions like this you could put on waders and a rain coat, put a shower cap over the camera and just wait the waves out standing on a rock whilst holding onto the tripod. Lots of fun!

Excellent Piotr, simple but engaging. Maybe a place to return with warmer light too?

Nice catch Greg! The division of blues by that wonderful splash is indeed fabulous. I might have preferred to have the strawberry moved away from the edges a bit and the seeds more sharply defined - probably easier said than done.

Looks just great Rui, a scene close to my own heart. A wonderful juxtaposition of lines and textures. Why shoot anything else when there are so many variations of rock and water to be found...
