This one is a supurb example of manipulation. Manipulation is not a bad word. We use it all the time - even in our unmanipulated photos by waiting for the Sun to manipulate the color and light. The manipulation here works so very well because the lighting is correct, there is simplicity in the compositional elements giving it elegance. There is sensuality in the capture of motion in water and sky. At least that's why I like it.

A great job of environmental portraiture. Lighting is wonderful and perfectly matched the mood. If there is some selective darkening it is done with masterful skill and is the perfect amount. Change nothing. 7/7.

I'm putting these up as I get prints made. So far there are 4 of these with more on the way. Not as dramatic as 'Canyon X #2' seen here: http://www.photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=2450222.
What do you think? -
I was actually at Canyon X (think of it as upper upper Antelope Canyon). The sun was shining and the wind was blowing powdery sand down into my lenses. :-) I do have a shot from Upper Antelope the next day when it was overcast here: http://www.photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=2419328. A fun place to shoot if it were not for the awful crowds.

What the ...? This is not BAD nor unoriginal. It may not please some but they don't know how to rate, as if I do :-)
This is a good job of manipulation. I don't know that I like the color, the composition is okay. It's an odd photo and stronger than most that I see manipulated here. The work is very solid technically. 6/6 to balance out the rating the other person should not have left. Looks even better viewed large. Might be very dramatic as as giant print in some gallery!

Beautiful.
Can you dodge (darken) the top right leaves and bring down the brightness on the rocks on the right?

One from the Southwest series. This is printed large. My personal
favorite, so far, from the Canyon X group. Comments?

Ha! It is amazing to me how someone can pull out another refreshing image from such a common subject. Good Job! Love the use of negative space.

This is well done. I would crop in a little bit on the left hand side.

Interesting study in light and texture.

Almost the right moment. The face is cut off. Very good exposure and an interesting backgroud.
-
Too high key? ... or creative use of exposure? It is eye-catching!

I don't know if the person in this adds to the image. This is a good capture and shows a good eye for composition. Good crop.
-
Hmmm...a different take on the subject. A reasonable abstract.
-
Hmmm...I don't see "The Fisher" here. I see a sunset with a pier and...oh yeah...there is the fisherman. A nice sunset. Good exposure.

Splendid in black and white! Did you crop the top or is that how it is? A Tate Britian competitor for sure.

I don't understand this image. If it is water in motion then maybe the water should be blurred? The vignette on the right hand side takes away further from the image.

Nice street shot. The white fleck near the woman's left eye is distracting and should be spotted out so I don't keep focusing on it.

A very strong and beautiful composition. The colorful person adds a nice abstract flair and without it the picture would be only fair. 7/7! I would not change anything. I must do more than sleep over between ferries next time I'm in Ancona.
