Austin, Texas. Could be a better shot to include that long inclined walkway leading up to the capital. On the title: I thought the Capitol was only in DC, and while we are certainly south of most of the rest of the country I don't know if we consider ourselves part of the "South"?

An obvious manipulation of focus /blur. In this case, you have a strong image but the the selective focus is too fake. Of course you are trying for this effect. I just don't find it a good image. Is the original posted?

Is the saturation a bit punched up in the center of the cornflowers? It give the effect of losing detail when you really want it there. This is not an easy thing to do but could be worth it for this. How about a tighter verticla crop that group the center three and maybe (or not) include the next closest flower to the right?

The effect is either a bad masking effect or an oversharpening...or both. The out of focus leaves in the background lead me to think of bad masking. The flower is over saturated. Try getting closer and try not to shot down as goals to improve some flower shots.

I get tired of black backgrounds as they dont add anything (maybe that's why they are used?). It is necessary for this one as it is important to seperate the delicate design captured here from any distracting elements. Great job keeping the light detail.
