Hi everyone
I recently bought a Linhof Technica III which came with a polaroid
545 land back. I have tried to get hold of some type 55 for
alternative processes but it seems that the stuff is either extremely
expensive ( about twice the price of that in the US! ) or not
available at all. It also isn't worth shipping it in from Adorama.
Does anybody know of any local suppliers in South Africa?

I was recently given a mint Companon-s 5.6/100 and was wondering if
anyone has any experience with this lens and what format it is
suitable for( 35mm, MF, 4x5, etc )

I recently shot two rolls of Portra 400vs of some friends and their
baby but accidentally forgot to change the iso on the camera. I have
heard that an over exposed neg can be saved at the lab by asking for
it to be procededed differently or it can be adjusted at the
printing stage. What will the effect be on the pictures? What could
I do to save the shots?
Many thanks

I have a Bronica AEII prism that doesn't seem to be metering
properly. I have swiched it onto 'A' and when i push the shutter
release in a little it displayes '4'. When i adjust the aperture or
shutter speed, the reading remains at 4. The battery is new btw.
Why doesn't it meter?

I was asked to take some shots along with another photographer for a
designer ( of mainly evening gowns )next week. We'll be shooting out
in the bush in the afternoon and I will be using a Bronica ETRS. I
don't have very much experience with flash and need help with toning
down the background. I can't get hold of any major flash equipment
but can borrow a dedicated flash unit and possibly a soft box.
How would I go about toning the backgroung down?

I have been an international non-subscriber ( South Africa ) to PN
for a long time now and am becoming desperate for some of the
features of a subscriber. I am a student and have found that this
site has improved my photography greatly! (thanx!!!)
Is there any way to pay for a subscription from South Africa?

Are cokin filters cheaper in France than in the US? ( as they are
made there ) If so, by how much? Thanx!

I am prety ignotant about black and white film, so I accept if this
is a stupid question. :-)
What is the difference between using real b&w film ,like Ilford ,and
just converting cheaper colour negatives to b&w in photoshop?
Thanx

I agree with Photo Design. I have won awards at regional salons for photos that viewers here rated poorly. LIKEWISE I have had photos turned down and harshly criticised at the same salons which were some of my highest rated here. So don't be too hurt at what others think. Just take photos and share. If one person likes the shot, Well done. You've achieved your goal!

Great. None of my film is faster than 800, however, I'll still stick to the manual search to be extra safe! Thanx muchly ;-)

How slow is 'slow' (to be very safe)?

Should I remove all my film (40 rolls) from their plastic canisters
and store them in transparent Zip-Lock bags for hand searching. I'm
just wondering as I've heard that they will not be hand searched
unless they are removed.
Thanx!

Thanx for all the help! This is a very useful tool!

I heard once of perspective correction done in photoshop. Aparrently
this gives a almost identical effect as a T/S Lens. Does anyone know
how to do this? Thanx!

Thanx! Looks like my K1000 has a new friend!

I have been meaning to buy a second body for ages and recently came
across an old Ricoh XR-7. I thought it could fit nicely with my
other K-Mount lenses. If anybody has used/owns one please could give
me your opinion on it. ( It is priced at $70 and looks pretty well
looked after )

Pity, I realy like the effect type 55 has when contact printed. I wanted to try some kallitypes which apparently don't need very dense negs? I'll have to wait 'til someone I know goes to the US then.
Thanx!
