OP - Spoken like a person who has no kids in school. Who are you to decide that only some people have photographic access? Jeez, another one who has entitlement on the brain. The are so many things wrong with your arguments on so many levels, it's sad. And you don't see anything wrong with it and that's worse.
I'm sure you'll find some delusional or pathetic school admin who'll buy into your line in this day and age. It's not anything special nowadays though. Using your argument, you can always finds some paranoid loser willing to go along. But you could use the same argument over the past 50 years to "protect the children" and always find a sympathetic ear.

Maybe, maybe not. Since you can't do anything about it, why worry?
-
Why don't you just to to Amazon or the library and get a book on the subject. That's about the amount of info you're asking for, not just a few paras. Too, maybe spend a month or so reading the archives here and you'll have your answer also.

I think if you don't like the way it is set up, you should provide site feedback to the elves. Wouldn't that make more sense? You won't get enough responses to get any statistically significant result to accurately judge how the majority feel about this issue and only the admins can make a change (if needed). Too, there may be some people who like the behavior. How would you reconcile what someone else wants versus what you might want?

As always, anyone who REALLY knows is under NDA. Anyone who gives you the facts, as has been shown by several pronouncements in these forums time and time again, is only guessing based on their unique viewpoint.

A friend of mine did this. You need some kind of Apple-made dongle that fits between the two devices. Batteries on both units will take a hit as it is slow. But it can be done.

I'm curious about a corollary to this. For those that provide CDs, especially w/o prints (or even cheaply done proofs), how do you address a client who is concerned about longevity? Do you tell them how to get professionally-done prints? Or make high-quality albums? Do you think, 20+ years from now, they'll be able to show their kids/grandkids pictures of their wedding that are as good as the day they were taken (within reason)? That should be a concern to any professional shooter.
Too, does ANYONE have real, empirical evidence to show that poor handling by the customer after the event ("I saw her wedding photos and would never use that photographer") is helping or hurting someone's individual business?

So much FUD here . . .

Having spent several years with Consular Affairs at State, I can affirm that, yes, pretty much anything can be mounted. It's not that high a temp. We even used to mount that plastic-based commercial polaroid stuff. However, it's my understanding some of the newer ones don't even use the photo, just a scan of it.
-
We've also neglected the whole issue of paper. Different papers will present the colors differently. Just look at your basic matte/glossy differences. You'll need to take that into account also. Use Epson papers if nothing else, for a start.
As far as monitor calibration, check out Spyder Colorvision and Gretag-MacBeth products.

I would also suggest any of the National Geographic Photography Field Guides. For beginners and intermediates, they are great. Cheap on Amazon too.

Too many variables unless you're ony looking at negs. Add the variables of printing, paper, and skill and you have too many differences to make a comparison very useful.

Current DPP and PE works on Premium and Business. I've been running the shipping builds for a few weeks now, both 32- and 64-bit and no big issues. Not 100% sure about Ultimate but shouldn't be a problem. I would not get Basic if I were you. Too limited.

The printer is technically not the issue. What is probably the issue is (a) you expect what you see on the screen to print that way and (b) the OS talking to the app and the printer correctly.
To correct the first, you need to calibrate you screen so it displays the hues properly. Some people use a tool for this that attaches to the screen. To correct the second, you need to do some research on color mgmt. MS has an explanatory page on their site and there are several tutorials out there. Once the app and OS agree on what's what, they can send the correct codes to the printer for the right colors.
This is way oversimplified but more would require reinventing the wheel.

Andrew, Rockwell probably WOULD want to argue (with his ego).

FYI, Microsoft has a new standard called HDPhoto. It's more of just a spec at this point although support for it exists in Vista. You can download the spec and a porting kit on their site.

It works fine on my 30D.

That's what YOU want. Your lights won't do much good on the sidelines or at a dance recital or at a gym. Your film cameras won't do much good if your customer expects results IMMEDIATELY.
Horses for courses. Just another digital vs. film thread.

Pretty sure you need to acquire CD burning s/w. AFAIK, ME doesn't have this capability built into the OS.

You're going to start a business and rely on legal advice from here? You may get some great general info (nothing you couldn't find by doing a search since this has been covered so many times already) but what about any unique issues relevant to your locale or business model.

Make sure you have enough KR25 on hand too.

Also, doublecheck on Rainier before going. A lot of roads and trails are still closed after storms from the last few months. Was just on the news last night. Much of the park has access issues and, with the way storms are happening lately, it may be a while before everything is back to normal (the newscaster noted "years").

Roger, you're kidding, right? I mean, if they can find queen Lara and Alpha Beta on the moon, I think NASA spending my tax dollars is just fine.

Get a phone book, get the addresses of wedding shooters in your area, create a small portfolio and coldcall them in person stating your intentions. It's no different than getting any other job.
