Similar experience...bought 512 mb compactflash from CompUSA via website....CompUSA had a $30.00 rebate form sent with shipment....submitted this to Lexar..denied it because the rebate form was for wrong period (I sent the rebate form for current promo, but invoice was before the current promo started...and yes, I mailed the request prior to the postmark deadline)....will never buy Lexar products again....

Avoid developing films after taking a double shot expresso....just kidding....good luck...

why mess with success ???

Glad to see another fan of APX100 and Diafine. This has become my favorite combo for the last few years. APX100, tona;ity is second to none, not to mention pretty sharp film too.

I am optimistic about recent developments with Agfa. In my opinion, the film market that is hit hardest by the dgigtal technology are C41 and slide films. The major consumers for these products are the same consumers that have abandoned film and turned to digital. Whereas the photographers that use b/w films and paper have not quite embraced the digital b/w as much as the photographers that use color films and slides. Based on this, I believe Agfa will continue to produce its popular b/w products. Sheet films ??? This I am not sure....but 35mm and medium format I believe will be supported.

Kinda suprised that PanF will be discontinued......any link, English only please...

I second Lex's recommendation of Tri-x. May I also add, I have used Ilford PanF (rated at ISO80) and Agfa APX100(rated @ ISO200, my favorite film) with excellent results.

Jon, I use the sme technique you mentioned in loading up 120/220 films and so far I've had no problems with it.
-
Sabrina, also picked photo A digital and photo B film, prize for finishing second ???
-
Paul, I agree with you about the out of focus background. It is harder, if not impossible to totally throw off the background expecially for portrait shots. In this case, P&S is not your choice. I have not used DSLR's, but, Paul could you post pictures with the background out of focus ??? Thanks...

I own the C-8080 and very happy with it. I have not tried the other cameras in this category, but had held them in the store. The Sony 828 is a bit too bulky for my taste. The Minolta A2 was fine, but decided with C-8080 for picture quality and its size. Attached is my Holloween shot taken with the Olympus.

Be carefull and do not get kidnapped....seriously !!!!

I propose that the photo critique forum eliminate any mention of what equipment was used...not entirely. Perhaps the f stop
and/or aperture used, focal length of the lens but eliminate any mention of either film or digital. Would be interesting how people would rate these photos, if there would be any change.

just for the body alone ??? guess i have to learn to have my hands steadier when taking pictures or carry a monopod when shooting.....

Bob, you should sell your KM gears then and go with Canon/Kodak/Nikon as KM will take at least 6 months to release another DSLR, IMHO. You happen to have 85mm prime lens for sale ??
-
Bob, what do you mean when you say 'serious' digital camera ???
-
Wayne, yes I think I will try the 'test strip' method. I have used APX 100 (best tone film imo, hope it is not true about demise of this film) and PanF with Diafine with excellent results. This is not the first time I heard that the 'old' films works best with Diafine. It would be interesting to try out Tmax though....
-
Thank for the advices. I will do some test shots, initially rating Tmax @ ISO 160 and go 2 stops up and down. Will what works for me hopefully this weekend. Thanks again !!

Well folks, it seems it is worth the wait for KM 7D. I know people will argue that Canon is industry leader, Nikon has some neat stuff too....but for me, owning a few KM lenses, 7D makes a lot of sense. The other factor here will be the price of 7D...but confident KM will make the right decision and make the price competitive.
-
I am big fan of Diafine, but the only use this developer for Ilford
Panf and Agfa APX100, both in 35mm and medium format. I like using
TMAX 100 when I use my 4x5, but want to use Diafine to process the
film. The Diafine box states to rate Tmax 100 at 160, but only noted
it for 35mm use. Has anybody used this combo, Diafine and Tmax 100,
if so please share your findings in regards to rating the ISO to use
for Tmax 100. Thanks much...I've been digitized...but so far for
snapshots only...but still love B/W process....

'End note - 6 rolls of k25 just sold for over $150 on e-bay!!! Too bad Kodak cant tap into demand like that for the current K products.'
there you go Kodak....revive K25 and sell it on EBAY..this was one of Kodak' best

Minolta 9 is splash proof....big difference than weatherproof in a big downpour. The answer to your question is NO.

An unknown supplier will publish a book titled 'Book for Dummies to Make your own Color and B/W film'.... The supplier is anticipating an early release date of December 2004....There is a further rumor also that a later book will also be released. This book this time will talk about how to make your own slide films....

I do not agree that the 6mp KM 7D is not a wise move.
Most guys here must really have quite a bit of dispensable income..but not me. If KM's first DSLR offering is say 12mp, I just got priced out of the market.
Yes, there is no doubt that Canon and Nikon or even Pentax are ahead of the technology race...but for practical purposes...does owning the the latest, biggest and baddest dslr out there really improve the other aspects of your pictures such as composition, choices of lighting etc ??? One thing for sure, the latest offerings from Canon and Nikon, with proper photo taking techniques could be blown up to some ungodly enlargement....but the criteria for a good photo hardly is dictated by size...
Yes, I am happy that KM finally got in the DSLR market...and yes I will be happy to own the new KM 7D.
Just my opinion !!
Purchasing b/w film economically

Kay,
Yes, buying films via retail store is an expensive way to go. I exclusively mail order my film from B&H Photo and Focus Camera (cheaper and very good service). I never had any problems with films I order via these stores. In fact, because these stores sell a lot of films, you are assured that films are fresh. In regards to concerns about delivery/transport, these films are transported the same way to your local dealer (UPS/FEDEX).
