Colin, I'm glad there are people out there who can take a comment in stride... :) The world needs more of those.
Have a nice day,

Unless you're making a witty statement about the amount of clothing on the woman - it is spelled bear. :)
Spelling is really important!!!

Marvin,
First of all I made friends with a security supervisor... who let me go down into a somewhat restricted section of seats in the arena. Then I made friends with the media relations person on field level. And then, as the Queen was getting ready to leave, I asked politely if I could hop the barricade and join the rest of the media. The response was, "Jump the fence fast so the cops don't see you. They get kind of nervous when they see that." :)
After that it was just a matter of waiting for politicians and security guards to veer out of the way.

Maybe we'd better stop talking about politics on a photo forum though, someone may come along and ruin a peaceful discussion...

Personally I am on the traditional marriage side, but I tried hard to take unbiased photos. I shot what I saw - no matter what side they were on.

Two pro-gay marriage supporters show their appreciation to a traditional marriage supporter who took their photo on his camera phone.
Please critique and comment!

Thanks for taking the time to comment.
Yes the focus is a tad soft, but not as soft as it appears in this compressed version.
Wow, I must be getting good! I can achieve a classic flash fall off effect without using a flash! ;) Stage lights were the source of all light in this pic, hence the dark background.

Oh great, now I'm hungry!
Good capture Scott, I agree with what they said ^^. I only wish that the woman on the right was active in some way.

Please critique! Do the blown whites on the ice detract from the image?

I used two AB's. One was bounced, and the other was direct. I didn't record the settings, but I think the bounced one was near full power and the direct one was somewhere around 3/4 power. For you visual people... I made a little diagram in Paint. (yeah, it is wonderful) Since I was shooting for the school yearbook, I switched the lights at the half to follow 'my' team, hence the #'s 1 and 2 on the lights in the diagram.
Thanks,
/daniel

On camera flash is not your friend. It is your enemy! You have a good moment, but the on camera flash really spoils it; also the cluttered background detracts. Happy shooting!

If it was possible, two feet to the left would have helped clear the background.
Also, why manipulate the photo, when it is possible to get that effect with a magnifying glass? Just curious...
Cheers-
